Comic Picks of the Week for Delivery 8/5/20

Every week, hundreds of new comics hit the stands. Each with potential. We pick the ones we think will have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 8/5/20.

I have been waiting for a week like this for a while. A huge week full of awesome comics and great flips.

New #1’s
Patriotika #1 – fan favorites and with a big following, Pariotika goes from self published to at Antarctic Press. Sold out many places online. Check Mycomicshop to see if they have any at cover.

Dreaming Waking Hours #1 – the introduction of a new Character named Ruin. Will be interesting if he catches on. Also a 1:25 variant on this one.

Bad Mother #1 – New AWA series. Their books have been consistently good and have been heating up a bit. Worth checking out for the read alone.

Giant-Size X-Men Fantomex #1 – Fan favorite Fantomex returns to comics. I do like Weapon XIII.

Ones to Watch
Batman #96 – First appearance of Clownhunter, we knew he was coming, I mean he is on the cover to the 1:25 variant, but with that being said, is Tynion introducing too many new characters and will any stick.

Black Cat #12 Skan Cover – First full appearance and cover appearance of Black Cat’s armor.

Peach Momoko Madness
Crow Lethe #3 – one of two Peach Momoko covers out this week. Retailers are catching on as copies are more readily available.

Horizon Zero Dawn #1 Momoko Variant – The other of the two new Peach Momoko covers. Seems to be plenty out there. Still grab, not going to be an over night win, but crossover potential with game fans, comic fans, and Momoko collectors.

Reprints of the Week
Thor #3 3rd Print – Thor and Donny Cates reprints have been on fire. Pick up a copy or two. Check Mycomicshop if they have them cheap.
Thor #4 2nd Print – Same as above. Also check Mycomics shop for copies.

Marvel Action Avengers #10 2nd Print – reprinting the once hot first yellow Hulk. Could be of interest still.

Cover of the Week
Ice Cream Man #20 Cover B – Awesome Dr. Seuss homage. Selling for well above cover. Check Mycomicshop to see if they have any at cover.

Small Press Pick of the Week
Gutt Ghost Trouble with Sawbuck Skeleton Society – second one shot for the fan favorite Gutt Ghost. I have said it before I full think this quirky book will get picked up for an animated show.

Pick of the Week
Dark Nights Death Metal Legends Of The Dark Knights #1 – what looks to be a first full appearance and origin of Robin King. Some will debate Death Metal #3 is his first full, anyway, selling for above cover well before it hits the stands. Check Mycomicshop to see if they have any at cover. The variant on this one is already a beast.
