Covrprice.com Top Ten for Week Ending 10/16/20

Since Covrprice.com  came on the scene, they have become a go to spot for watching eBaytrends on comics. They scour thousands of eBay sales to cultivate data to spotlight the hottest selling comics. Here is this week’s Top Ten Comics: (Please note, potential spoilers do follow, and, these results are for auction that closed last week. )

#1 BATMAN #100 JORGE JIMENEZ 1:25 VARIANT (DC, 2020) Collectors are digging these design variants. Most seems to be doing well upon launch. This Batman 1:25 variant sold 56 copies, had a 7-day trend of 74% and had a high sale of $67.84 for a raw copy. However, it has since dropped with a current market price of about $45.

#2 BLACK PANTHER ANNUAL #1 (MARVEL, 2008) Well, news is officially spreading as fans realize that this issue is the first appearance of Shurri as The Black Panther, predating Black Panther #1 (2009). It sold 10 copies, had a 7-day trend of 349% and had a high sale of $84 for a raw copy.

#3 THOR #8 (MARVEL, 2015) Yahoo had a recent interview with actress Natalie Portman. When asked about her role as THOR, she revealed that it will include Jane Foster’s fight against cancer. In this issue, the mysterious identity of the new female Thor was revealed to be Jane Foster (and that she’s dying). It sold 18 copies, had a 7-day trend of 185% and had a high sale of $115 for a CGC 9.8.

#4 STRANGE ACADEMY #1 (MARVEL, 2020) As we mentioned with the #10 spot, Strange Academy continues to sell well. It sold 31 copies, had a 7-day trend of 105% and had a high sale of $202.50 for a CGC 9.8.

#5 THE DEPARTMENT OF TRUTH #1 OSWALD SECRET VARIANT (IMAGE, 2020) Last week the 1:100 made the list, this week it’s the SECRET VARIANT, featuring Lee Harvey Oswald on the cover. It sold 24 copies, had a 7-day trend of 103% and had a high sale of $19.99 for a raw copy.

#6 AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #300 (MARVEL, 1988) Venom is incredibly hot right now. From Donnie Cates to LET THERE BE CARNAGE, Venom is easily one of the hottest characters in comics right now. His first full appearance sold 18 copies, had a 7-day trend of 133% and had a high sale of $2,550 for a CGC 9.8.

#7 BLACK #1 (BLACK MASK, 2016) As mentioned last week, Deadline reported that “Studio 8 announced that Warner Bros. has acquired Black, the feature adaptation of the Black Mask comic series from co-creators Kwanza Osajyefo and Tim Smith 3. It sold 19 copies, had a 7-day trend of 124% and had a high sale of $39.99 for a raw copy.

#8 ULTIMATE FALLOUT #4 (MARVEL, 2011) Miles is back on the list! Honestly, he never went away. This made it back on the list after 21 copies sold, with a 7-day trend of 110% and had a high sale of $999.95 for a CGC 9.8.

#9 THE STRANGE TALENT OF LUTHER STRODE #1 (IMAGE, 2011) Another site suggested there was potential content in the works for this title. It’s completely unconfirmed. Yet, these still caused 13 copies to sell, giving it a 7-day trend of 136% and had a high sale of $27.99 for a raw copy.

#10 STRANGE ACADEMY #1 CAMPBELL VARIANT (MARVEL, 2020) Strange Academy continues to heat up, affecting ALL the various 1st print covers. This Campbell variant was cheap for months as the standard cover jumped in price. Now, these are all catching up. It sold 12 copies, had a 7-day trend of 147% and had a high sale of $129.99 for a CGC 9.8.
