Comic Picks of the Week for Delivery 11/4/20

Every week, hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each with potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for comics delivering 11/4/20:

Very strange week. There are a ton of new series starting this week, some seem cool. No real, break out books, which means a book will sneak up on us. Here is what is on tap for this week.

New #1’s
Sweet Tooth The Return #1 – Jeff Lemire’s epic series returns to the comic page, before it comes to the screen.

Crossover #1– Donny Cates new creator owned series from Image. What if all those comic series were true? Find out here.

U.S.Agent #1 – rumor of a new US Agent coming. Super Patriot, has been stripped of his official USAgent status and is now operating as an independent government contractor protecting government covert interests. His latest protection detail draws him into a conflict between a small town and the corporate giant trying to destroy it. John acquires a new partner and new enemy along the way while being haunted by ghosts from his past and confronting challenges to his future

Web Of Venom Empyres End #1 – Knull-centric Empyres End cross over. Knull is coming! There is a 1:50 variant available for this one as well.

Wolverine Black White & Blood #1 – Sweet, blood soaked Wolverine book. I have been waiting for a more violent Wolverine.

Cold Dead Hands #1 – Awesome looking small press book from Source Point Press. Aspiring mercenary, Kit Kelso, comes wrist to wrist with the deadliest hands in history.

Pantomime #1 – new Mad Cave series. One night the group decides to dip their toes into crime… the thrill is too much to leave behind. They soon find out that stealing from the wrong person, has its consequences. With no one to turn to but each other, they must make a choice, one where no one comes out the same.

Year Zero Vol 2 #1 – First series was really good and the first issue caught some pretty good heat. A more personal zombie story. Looking forward to seeing the story continue.

Origins #1 – Clay Chapman’s new book from Boom. A thousand years after humans are killed off by artificial intelligence, one man is brought back to life – David Adams, who created the technology that destroyed his people. Now with the help of the android Chloe who revived him, David will try to restore humanity – and stop the AI overlords he created. David embarks on the greatest battle of his life, seeking redemption while also discovering if humanity can – or should – have any kind of future. A new sci-fi epic for fans of Little Bird and Descender from acclaimed writer Clay McLeod Chapman (Absolute Carnage: Separation Anxiety) and illustrator Jakub Rebelka (Judas), based on a concept by Arash Amel (A Private War), Joseph Oxford (Me + Her), and Lee Toland Krieger (The Age of Adaline).

For the Cover
Buffy The Vampire Slayer #19 – Sweet Momoko cover on this one. Many didn’t even realize, sold out at most places now. Could be a winner. (We had this on our Momoko thread over on the forum)

Reprints of the Week
Department Of Truth #1 2nd Ptg – reprints have been hot, need to see how this one shakes out, but I can say I like the story.

Savage Dragon #252 Cover B 2nd Ptg – Remember when the first Ice Cream Man Dr. Seuss homage came out, it was awesome, this Charlie Brown Parody Variant Cover has that feel.

Avengers #57 Facsimile Edition – First Vision gets the facsimile treatment. Another book that I already own but don’t dare read the copy of.

Hellstrom Marvel Tales #1 – Inhyuk Lee Cover is sweet, but the real draw is it reprints Ghost Rider #1 and Son of Satan #1. Many stores will not get this because of the higher priced cover, so good luck finding the 1:100 variant.

One to Watch
Miles Morales Spider-Man #20 – has just become one of those must grab books. The B cover is pretty sweet.

Small Press Pick of the Week
La Diabla #1 – New Eric Powell series from Albaotross Exploding Funny Books! Looks awesome. The new character La Diabla will be appearing in other AEFB titles.

Pick of the Week
Thor #9 – I really thought this was going to be a filler issue. It is not. It is actually a really cool story featuring the warped return of Donald Blake (Spoilers later). Trust me, you will want to see what Donny Cates does to him.

and

Captain Marvel #23 – First appearance of Bridget, the daughter of Thor. Nuff said.

  1. The Black Widow #3 Hughes cover looks pretty awesome as well. And that Hellstrom book is a great introduction for new fans since GR #1 is such a pricey book now. Called my LCS to reserve a copy. Thanks Anthony!
