In a literal “blink and you’ll miss it” moment during a recent TV spot for Multiverse of Madness, in the background appears to be a particular character. Speculation is rampant that this quick appearance features a heavy resemblance to none other than the Living Tribunal. His first full appearance came in this book, coming to Earth and doing battle with the Sorcerer Supreme, ready to pass judgment on the Earth, due to none other than Strange himself. Sound familiar? That might explain why we tracked 22 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 140% with a high sale of $849.99 for a CGC 8.5.
#9 STRANGE TALES #157 | MARVEL | 1967
Do you know that Living Tribunal fella we mentioned? Well, his first CAMEO appearance is in this book! After the Ancient One sacrifices themself and passes their powers onto Strange, they warn him of something. The mystical of the Earth feel it as well, and that something is the Living Tribunal, coming to pass judgment on an Earth that now has a sense of evil. Considering the Living Tribunal is one of the most powerful cosmic entities in existence, it’s his responsibility to maintain the Multiverse and keep it balanced. The MCU is feeling a tad multiversal lately, leading fans to snag this book up to go along with Strange Tales 158. We tracked 25 copies sold at a 7-day trend of 165%, with a high sale of $499 for a CGC 9.0.
#8 CAPTAIN CARTER #1 ANIMATION VARIANT (1:25) | MARVEL | 2022
The TV spots that keep on giving, I tell ya! This 1:25 Animation Incentive Variant is on fire after a glimpse of Captain Carter’s shield was revealed in a recent TV spot. Fans speculated long before this, however, due to eagle-eyed viewers spotting her shield on a shard of glass on one of the promotional posters for the film. After first appearing in the Disney+ What If? Animated series, it’s only fitting that the same art style on the cover of her first solo series would be as well received. We tracked 27 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 208%, with a high sale of $300 for a raw copy.
#7 NEW AVENGERS #7 | MARVEL | 2005
Thanks to recent trailer spots, the Illuminati’s live-action appearance is back on the list after being officially confirmed to appear in DOCTOR STRANGE AND THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS. There are a TON of spoilers online. So, tread carefully for those trying to stay away. It’s a spoilery land mind out there! Covrprice tracked 50 sales with a 7-day trend of 124% and a high sale of $513 for a CGC 9.8 and raw copies at an FMV of $65.

The only holdover from last week’s Thor dominated top 10, the staying power of The Mighty Thor is electric. The first cover appearance of Jane Foster as Thor is iconic, leading fans to think of this book when thinking of the character. That trend continues after a round of Thor: Love and Thunder information took the internet by storm as we tracked 71 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 102%, with a high sale of $414 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw FMV of $119.
#5 INCREDIBLE HERCULES #120 | MARVEL | 2008
The first appearance of Kly’bn is making waves! Due to the news of a crew merch leak being ALL over social media, fans have turned to the last of the Skrull Eternals to lead their collecting way. The Skrull God Kly’bn prophesied the destruction of the Skrull homeworld, leading to their secret invasion of Earth. With major players in the MCU, such as Nick Fury being revealed as Skrulls, not to mention a Disney+ series in the works, the community is ready for this monumental event to play out, with connotations of a broader connection to the MCU’s Eternals. We tracked 53 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 225%, with a high sale of $15 for a raw copy.

The community has spoken, embracing Captain Carter with open arms. Her first issue in a limited series has been going gangbusters for a modern comic. Understandably, Marvel has assigned quite a bit of attention to the character. Appearing in animated form, comic form, and potentially set to appear in live-action, the community is speculating there is more to come in the future. It helps that her first issue has been positively received, leading us to track 84 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 183%, with a high sale of $18 for a raw copy.
#3 STAR WARS TALES OF THE JEDI #1 | DARK HORSE | 1993
This book is quite the fascinating outlier and a lore-rich one. It also features the first appearances of Jedi Knights Arca Jeth, Tott Doneeta, Ulic Qel-Droma, and Cay Qel-Drom, a team sent to end a longstanding war taking place during The Old Republic era. It’s technically part of the Legends segment of Star Wars. While not necessarily canon, things that weren’t prior are slowly becoming so, such as force healing and Grand Admiral Thrawn. Fans are hoping this era of Star Wars lore will garner more attention and these Jedi Knights, as it’s rich in epic and ancient storylines such as this one. We tracked 65 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 241%, with a high sale of $285 for a CGC 9.8.
#2 FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #7 | MARVEL | 2006
The continuation of the story featured in our number 1 spot finds El Muerto, a mystically masked enemy of Spider-Man, lying in the hospital due to a sting from Spider-Man. The villain El Dorado, clad in mystical gold armor, is not affected by said stingers, leading to a team-up of El Muerto and Spider-Man. Due to this book being the second of two appearances by the soon-to-be Bad Bunny played El Muerto, fans speculate this story could be featured heavily in the Sidey spin-off. We tracked 41 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 515%, with a high sale of $69 for a raw copy.
#1 FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #6 | MARVEL | 2006
The trajectory of this book is unreal! After an appearance at Cinema Con, Bad Bunny, a Puerto Rican musician, revealed he would be entering the Marvel Universe as El Muerto. Sony Pictures has plans to develop a Spider-Man spin-off film, casting the rapper as its titular character who first appeared in this book. Challenging and wrestling Spider-Man before being stung and paralyzed, El Muerto gave the wall-crawler a run for his money thanks to his mystical mask. Previously only appearing twice in comics, this announcement has sent this book into the stratosphere as collectors move to pick up this former $2 book. We tracked 81 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 2,758%, with a high sale of $250 for a raw copy.

What makes a book valuable? An intriguing storyline? A limited release cover? The first cover art for BAYC? The first NFT to be used as a cover? A bit of controversy? THE SECRET HISTORY OF THE WAR ON WEED #1 hits all of these benchmarks. Brian Posehn, Gerry Duggan, and Scott Koblish have put together an interesting narrative about Scotch McTiernan, the “biggest tool in the armed forces,” getting high for the first time. If it seems like a simple concept, it is, which makes for perfect storytelling. Additionally, Image has stated that part of the proceeds of this book goes towards organizations dedicated to helping casualties of America’s immoral drug war. What adds to the desirability of this book is the recent backlash over this limited release cover. Comics fans did not shy away from expressing their frustrations and concerns over the use of this cover on social media. With all of that mentioned, controversy tends to bring infamy to books like this and, in turn, make them highly sought after and expensive (for example, Milo Manara’s Spider-Woman #1 variant). When it comes to Catwoman, Sozomaika is one of the most highly sought-after cover artists. We tracked 25 copies of Sozomaika’s CATWOMAN 39 (1:25), at a 7-day trend of 98%, with a high sale of $66 for a raw copy. Her following 1:25 covers have also been extremely popular (#40, #41). It is no surprise that last week’s release hit the same level of notoriety. If you’re a Catwoman fan, Sozomiaka’s covers are books you will want to collect!

The fandom is clamoring for all books featuring Jane Foster’s Thor! The character is reaching new heights of popularity as the hunt for Jane Foster is on. It seems as if nearly all books featuring the mighty Thor have received a bump in the market. This is a particularly unique one, as it features neither Jane Foster nor her Thor appearance. Instead, this is the first appearance of Jane Foster’s Thor and Spider-Gwen’s costumes. They are worn by trick-or-treaters as we get a POV of Hawkeye taking aim through a crowd. Even though these aren’t character appearances, HAWKEYE VS DEADPOOL #0 has still achieved new highs due to “first costume appearances” holding some weight in the collecting community. We tracked 27 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 121%, with a high sale of $229 for a CGC 9.8.

Many fans have been waiting for a good look at Gorr the God Butcher in the upcoming THOR LOVE AND THUNDER. However, the teaser trailer had no visual shots of the epic villain. Nevertheless, the trailer did remind the fandom that Gorr the God Butcher is on his way to ravage Thor’s life. His first appearance, and the first appearance of the Necrosword, have taken a spot in the top ten rankings. This book will likely hit new highs when we finally see Christian Bale’s Gorr in future Thor trailers. We tracked 36 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 93%, with a high sale of $529 for a CGC 9.8.

Jane Foster makes her first cameo appearance as the god of thunder, Thor, in the final issue of Jason Aaron’s run. Marvel had planned to introduce Jane Foster as Thor, and this book was meant to create a direct line into that new story. Out of the 245 graded books on the CGC Census, only 115 are graded at 9.8. We tracked 27 copies sold at a 7-day trend of 139%, with a high sale of $255 for a CGC 9.8.

While no key appearances occur in this book, there is a key scene that was ripped directly from the comics to grace the silver screen. The referenced scene is the death of Falligar the Behemoth, a god of the galactic frontier that Thor had personally known. This was the start of Thor’s awareness of Gorr’s rampage in the comics. This scene is sure to be a turning point in the movie. Additionally, many eBay listings are citing this book as the 2nd appearance of Gorr, which is incorrect (it’s GOD OF THUNDER #4). This is an interesting entry in the long line of Jane Foster sales. Although some may debate that this book is the first appearance of Jane Foster’s Thor, many disagree. Much like the EXILES #3 and CAPTAIN CARTER #1 debate, WHAT IF? #10 debuts a different version of Jane Foster’s Thor. The character in question goes by the name of Thordis. Thirty-five years later, Jane would once again pick up Mjolnir and become Thor in the mainstream Marvel Universe, in THOR #1. One thing is for certain, finding this book over THOR #1 is a much harder hunt. CGC currently has 155 copies of this book at 9.8, compared to THOR #1’s 2,703 copies (CGC 9.8). For it to land on this week’s Top 10, we tracked 49 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 122%, with a high sale of $2,000 for a CGC 9.8.
