Captain Carter has been the topic of many conversations amongst the community over the past few weeks. With teases abound regarding the character, strong comic sales, and multiple media iterations, fans submitted what they could as fast as they could. Eagerly awaiting the return of their submission paid off, as we tracked 73 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 157%, with a high sale of $325 for a CGC 9.8, with raw at an FMV of $13. That is quite a premium for a 9.8! Hopefully, as more graded issues come to market, it can sustain its growth, helping keep the character around for the long haul. Even with the movie out this one hasn’t died or been cut in half like people were saying.
#12 STAR WARS OBI-WAN KENOBI #1 ARIO ANINDITO (1:25) | MARVEL | 2022
Star Wars fans have been chomping at the bit for the return of Ewan McGregor as the Obi-Wan Kenobi. Their wishes have been fulfilled as the release date of Kenobi on Disney+ draws closer. Marvel dropped a new Obi-Wan comic (featuring his origin) on May 4th and a new trailer for the show. This 1:25 variant from the illustrator of the series features an epic shot of Old Man Kenobi in the garb of the desert, framed by the dual suns of Tatooine. Collectors loved it, leading us to track 38 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 151%, with a high sale of $55 for a raw copy.

Rumors persist after Guardians reported that Angela, as in Spawn Angela, but now Thor’s sister Angela, would be brought to the MCU, pushing Angela’s first appearance to new heights. With Todd McFarlane’s Spawn reboot still in limbo, collectors are hoping that comes to pass. Her first appearance continues to do well, selling 42 copies with a 7-day trend of 99% and having a high sale of $197.50 for a CGC 9.8.
#14 FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #6 | MARVEL | 2006
Most would have answered incorrectly if you had asked where this book was heading a month ago. With a meteoric rise after it was announced that Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny would be playing El Muerto in an upcoming Spidey spin-off from Sony, it ended up having some staying power. The first appearance of El Muerto fell from our #1 spot last week, as we tracked 40 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 100%, with a high sale of $177.50 for a high-grade NM+ raw copy. Keep in mind that the raw FMV is currently at $43, which shows signs of this book already slowing down.

This book is persistent, as is every iteration of the Boy Wonder! The cameo of the new Robin continues its hot trend with 39 copies sold, a 7-day trend of 98%, and a high sale of $130 for a CBCS 9.8.
#16 SPIDER-MAN #1 TODD MCFARLANE REGULAR | MARVEL | 1990
Another familiar book returns, never straying too far from our list. The perfect mix of nostalgia, Spider-Man, an iconic cover, and the ’90s are in every collection from that era. Some kept better care of it than others, and when those truly premium books come to market, there is often a trickle-down. We tracked 33 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 100%, with a massive high sale of $1,251.80 for a rare CGC 9.9.

After being initially advertised as a limited series, the world-building that unfolded during the run of Moon Knight on Disney+ left fans wondering if it really was the end after its final episode. This book happens to be the origin of Moon Knight, along with the first appearance of Bushman and Khonshu. With echoes of the book appearing in the show and some clever wording by Marvel on social media, fans may be thinking not. We tracked 24 copies sold with a 7-day trend of 117% and a high sale of $826.71 for a CGC 9.8.

James Gunn is the gift that keeps on giving. He’s adept at bringing lesser-known characters to the forefront and making them compelling. Gunn confirmed he planned to incorporate Darkhawk, who first appeared in this book, into Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 before ultimately scrapping the character prior to filming. With a new comic series debuting in 2022, hope remains that Darkhawk will still one day grace the screen, helping us track 28 copies sold this week, at a 7-day trend of 84%, and a high sale of $310 for a CGC 9.8

The month of May is upon us, and the excitement for Kenobi on Disney+ is palpable. While the day of release draws nearer, his first comic book appearance continues to get more attention. A character’s first appearance and origin in comics heating up the same week? We think the market may be telling us something. This week saw 20 copies sold, a 7-day trend of 95%, and had a high sale of $3,400 for a CGC 9.8.
