As promised, the Covrprice.com runners-up list. The second half of the Top 20.
#11 CATWOMAN #43 SOZOMAIKA (1:25) | DC | 2022
Selina Kyle and Harley Quinn make for quite the pair, depicted beautifully on this Sozomaika 1:25 cover. This variant sums up the book’s content, a story of a much-needed girl’s night out for Catwoman after her defeat of Black Mask. With the tease of a kiss and primed for the roller derby after an impromptu road trip, these dames take a quick snapshot mid celebration before a night on the town. Sozomaika’s Catwoman variants continue to be hot month after month, so fans were quick to visit the aftermarket or take a road trip of their own in search of a copy to secure. We tracked 35 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 136%, with a high sale of $115 for a raw copy.
#12 NEW MUTANTS #25 STANLEY ARTGERM LAU (1:50) | MARVEL | 2022
This 1:50 variant from Stanley Artgerm has a striking Goblin Queen front and center. No, not Queen Goblin, but Madelyne Pryor, the clone of Jean Grey, who Mr. Sinister corrupted into what she is today. Aiming to take over the mutant land of Krakoa, Goblin Queen stands at the ready with her minions; a cold, calculated powerhouse prepared to take what she feels is rightfully hers. Artgerm nails this cover, stunningly depicting the foe of Magik for this epic X-Men event. We tracked 23 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 169%, with a high sale of $90 for a raw copy.
#13 MARVEL SUPER-HEROES SECRET WARS #8 | MARVEL | 1984
Secret Wars is the talk of the community after the events of MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS. Where exactly Marvel will go is anyone’s guess, but collector sentiment is pointing toward this key. Doubling as the origin of the symbiote that comprises Spider-Man’s black suit, which later becomes Venom, and appearing in the first Secret Wars event, this sought-after book is always in demand. According to some, this isn’t technically the first appearance of the black suit, but it is the book collectors pick up when thinking of that epic costume change. With a tenuous connection between the Sony Spider-Man universe and that of Marvel, fans hope we may see that beautiful black suit if Secret Wars plays out in the MCU. We tracked 17 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 127%, with a high sale of $1080 for a CGC 9.8.
#14 MARVEL SUPER-HEROES SECRET WARS #3 | MARVEL | 1984
The recent She-Hulk trailer has sparked interest in a few other confirmed appearances that DIDN’T appear in it. Actress Jameela Jamil’s villainous role of Titania is one of these, helping the character’s first appearance in this issue move 18 copies with a 7-day trend of 153% and a high sale of $229.95 for a CGC 9.8. However, this is still way down from the high of $555 for a CGC 9.8 back when Jameeela playing Titania was first confirmed in June 2021.
#15 SPAWN #9 | IMAGE | 1993
As noted last week, persistent rumors of ANGELA being introduced into the MCU via GUARDIANS continue to drive Angela’s first appearance. We’ll have to see if the Spawn alum will take up her current mantle as Thor’s sister in the film. It would be fun to see! This week, we tracked 45 copies at a 7-day trend of 94%, with a high sale of $185 for a CGC 9.8.
#16 SPIDER-MAN 2099 #1 | MARVEL | 1992
Since his first appearance in an end credit scene of SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE, Miguel O’Hara’s nostalgic first solo-series issue has been steadily increasing in value. These sales will likely continue well up to (and after) the movie’s release, especially as rumors of a live-action depiction of the character, also featuring Oscar Isaac, continue to stick around. This week we tracked 35 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 99% and a high sale of $185.59 for a CGC 9.8.
#17 THE NEW MUTANTS #98 | MARVEL | 1991
This book fluctuates, but being the first appearance of Deadpool certainly helps keep it trending up with solid sales in the long run. With Ryan Reynolds still game to play the Merc with a Mouth, along with confirmation by Kevin Feige that Deadpool will make it to the MCU, this keeps fans’ optimism that it will come to fruition and be done right. We tracked 12 copies sold at a 7-day trend of 149%, with a high sale of $1,725 for a CGC 9.8.
#18 SHADOW WAR ZONE #1 LESLEY LEIRIX LI (1:25) | DC | 2022
Shadow War Zone is the all-new DC crossover event, with Talia al Ghul putting a hit on everyone who’s done business with Deathstroke. That’s quite the list! However, this glorious 1:25 from Lesley Leirix Li features the first cover and depiction of Angel Breaker, a new DC villain with ties to another freshman villain, Ghost Maker. The community picked up this fabulous cover for a price, though, as anticipation for the event and the introduction of a new villain ran high. We tracked 21 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 79%, with a high sale of $47.47 for a raw copy.
#19 SHE-HULK #1 JEN BARTEL | MARVEL | 2022
Marvel finally released the full trailer for She-Hulk on May 19th, and for the most part, fans appear to be excited. With a lighter tone than most of the recent MCU content, this excellent cover from Jen Bartel is fitting for fans to pick up. Bright, with vibrant colors and a costume very similar to that appearing in the show, it is a relatively available and low-priced modern book collectors can scoop up before the show drops in August. Titania, who also appears in this issue battling She-Hulk, will also appear on the Disney streamer. We tracked 12 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 141%, with a high sale of $81 for a CGC 9.8.
#20 PAPER GIRLS #1 | IMAGE | 2015
This Brian K. Vaughn story, soon to be adapted for Amazon Prime TV, fell from our top ten as more time has passed since the first look trailer dropped. The Paper Girls IP gives fans some Stranger Things vibes, which stole some of the limelight with a recent trailer release for season 4. This first issue suffered a significant dip in value after its initial option news in 2019. However, fans are again grabbing this book up before the show drops, hoping Prime continues the track record of solid adaptations like Invincible. We tracked 15 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 110%, with a high sale of $131.50 for a CGC 9.8.
