As promised, the Covrprice.com runners-up list. The second half of the Top 20.
#11 THUNDERBOLTS #1 | MARVEL | 1997
With the recent confirmation of The Thunderbolts coming to the MCU, fans rushed out to grab their first appearance in THE INCREDIBLE HULK #449. That issue quickly moved out of reach for many and continues to climb. As collectors tend to do, they moved to the next best thing in the Thunderbolts’ first ongoing series. Marvel did a great job of hyping the Thunderbolts as the next great squad, that is, until this book was released, revealing the Thunderbolts to be villains! We tracked 17 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 114%, with a high sale of $235 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw FMV of $32.
#12 FORTNITE X MARVEL ZERO WAR #1 LEINIL FRANCIS YU REGULAR | MARVEL | 2022
The mania continues! Remember when the DC/FORTNITE collaboration took over our TOP 10 list for a solid month? Fortnite is back, this time with Marvel, and it’s prevalent on our runners-up list! #13 ULTIMATE FALLOUT #4 | MARVEL | 2011
Miles Mania appears to be picking up steam once again after the Spot was spotted battling Spider-Man. The first appearance and first print of Miles Morales is one of the most expensive and sought-after modern comic books. Collectors continue to shell out for this book, pushing it and subsequent printings (including the 1:25 Djurdjevic variant, which went for over $40k!) and even a facsimile edition to sustained growth and stability. While that 1:25 is out of reach for most, this modern grail is “much more attainable” (as attainable as $3K can be). This week saw 28 copies sold, a 7-day trend of 121%, and had a high sale of $2,851 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw FMV of $680.
#14 THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #94 | MARVEL | 1984
With the confirmation and first look from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’s official Twitter account that the Spot would be a villain in the upcoming movie, books relating to his origins have shot up! Along with all Spot key issues, Dr. Johnathan Ohnn’s first cameo appearance is being grabbed up quickly, and collectors have resorted to the next best thing. As noted, this book is the first CAMEO appearance of Dr. Ohnn. With the success of Into the Spider-Verse, collectors are speccing hard. We tracked 23 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 143%, with a high sale of $20 for a raw copy and an FMV of $13.
#15 FORTNITE X MARVEL ZERO WAR #1 RON LIM | MARVEL | 2022
The Iron Spider suit that came to Fortnite has been a swinging success, leading Fornite fans to grab any copy they could to attain the code that unlocked it. That includes this fun Cover D from Ron Lim, who nails the high-octane action that Fortnite fans love. An explosion, Spidey, and robots, who could want anything more? We tracked 18 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 140%, with a high sale of $19 for a raw copy with an FMV of $16.
#16 THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #3 HIKARU UESUGI (1:100) | MARVEL | 2022
This 1:100 variant from artist Hikaru Uesugi continues to pick up steam as fans scoop up this signature cover featuring Sakura Spider. Sakura Spider may have first appeared in DEADPOOL: BLACK WHITE AND BLOOD #4 – 2021, but this is her first cover appearance, and collectors are digging it. We tracked 19 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 106%, with a high sale of $202.50 for a raw copy with an FMV of $197.
#17 GRIM #1 REGULAR | BOOM! STUDIOS | 2022
Grim is the latest from Boom! Studios, written by Stephanie Phillips, to receive some massive hype. Following Jessica Harrow, a dead Reaper recruit who doesn’t know how that came to pass, in search of the Grim Reaper. With the success of Boom! lately, and with the announcement of the third print of this fantastic book, fans snagged up what copies of the regular cover they could as momentum continues for this Grim tale, and its many variants become less attainable. We tracked 18 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 181%, with a high sale of $20 for a raw copy with an FMV of $18.
#18 GRIM #1 FLAVIANO 2ND PRINT | BOOM! STUDIOS | 2022
Fans have continued picking up this scarce second print, even amongst the announcement of the THIRD print for Grim. This book was tough to find with a short retailer window and heavy allocation. With Grim gaining momentum as rumors regarding an adaptation swirl, we continue to see high sales for this book. We tracked 27 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 91%, with a high sale of $100 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a Raw FMV of $28.
#19 THOR GOD OF THUNDER #2 | MARVEL | 2012
Gorr’s first appearance refuses to leave the list! Despite a drop in value after that trailer release, Gorr has “tested the highest out of any villain that Marvel’s had,” per Takika Waititi, helping stabilize his first appearances market value. All despite the naysayers regarding his on-screen aesthetic. This week, we tracked 23 copies sold at a 7-day trend of 88%, with a high sale of $400 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw FMV of $120.
#20 SPIDER-MAN #1 TODD MCFARLANE | MARVEL | 1990
While this issue may have left our runner-up list for a spell, it’s never gone long. Todd McFarlane’s Spider-Man art, as well as this run as a whole, are iconic, as well as plentiful, and relatively cheap. It’s an easy entry point for many and a must-have for new and old collectors alike. We tracked 17 copies sold, a 7-day trend of 107%, with a high sale of $129 for a CGC 9.8 and hitting highs of $20 raw with an FMV of $15.
