CovrPrice.Com Runners-Up for Week of 8/5/22

As promised, the Covrprice.com runners-up list. The second half of the Top 20.

#11 AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #10 | MARVEL | 2014
As noted by everyone, recent SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE merchandise leaks revealed a web-shooting guitar and Spider-Punk mask, effectively confirming Hobie Brown/Spider-Punk’s appearance in the upcoming film. His first appearance has been cautiously trending with a modest 14 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 147% with a high sale of $80 for a raw copy and an FMV of $57.

#12 NAMOR, THE SUB-MARINER #1 | MARVEL | 1990
With Namor finally appearing in the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer, his stock has never been higher. His first golden age appearance, silver age appearance, and, well, everything Namor has grown out of reach for most modern collectors. Collectors have turned their attention to some of his more modern first issues, such as this formerly abundant $1 bin mainstay from John Byrne. Sales for this book are booming! We tracked 28 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 135%, with a high sale of $179.95 for a CGC 9.8 and a Raw FMV of $17.

#13 GHOST RIDER #28 | MARVEL | 1992
Marvel has quietly, and not so quietly, introduced characters who have held a roster spot in the Midnight Suns, who first appeared in this book. Black Knight, Moon Knight, and Blade will soon appear, rounding out the squad for a future adaptation or storyline. Collectors haven’t forgotten this book, with a renewed interest as of late spurned by the Marvel timeline update from SDCC and the Midnight Suns game on the horizon. We tracked 33 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 113%, with a high sale of $167.18 for a CGC 9.8 and a Raw FMV of $20.

#14 SECRET WARS II #3 | MARVEL | 1985
This issue features the first cover appearance and first full appearance of the Beyonder (human form). Previously trending due to his appearance (played by Lawernce Fishburne) in the MOON GIRL AND DEVIL DINOSAUR series, now core MCU fans can anticipate his future appearance with the recently announced SECRET WARS film in phase six. We tracked 22 copies sold with a 7-day trend of 150% and a high sale of $204 for a CGC 9.8 and a Raw FMV of $28.

#15 SPIDER-MAN 2099 #1 | MARVEL | 1992
Since his first appearance in an end credit scene of SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE, Miguel O’Hara’s nostalgic first solo-series issue has been steadily increasing in value. These sales will likely continue well up to (and after) the movie’s release, especially as rumors of a live-action depiction of the character featuring Oscar Isaac continue to stick around. The recent rumor that Spider-Punk will appear in the film has reignited fans’ attention for the other variant of Spider-Man set to appear. This week we tracked 17 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 130% and a high sale of $150 for a CGC 9.8 and a Raw FMV of $13.

#16 EIGHT BILLION GENIES #2 | IMAGE | 2022
The genies have almost all left this week’s list, except for issue #2. However, no worries, as this series is still scorching in the aftermarket. The popular Image title couldn’t maintain its stance against the MCU announcement onslaught from SDCC. We tracked 21 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 97%, with a high sale of $30.65 for a raw copy and an FMV of $17.

#17 MARVEL SUPER-HEROES SECRET WARS #8 | MARVEL | 1984
This book already went for a hefty sum as it featured the origin of Spider-Man’s black suit that would later become Venom and is often argued as the first appearance of the Black Suit. With the confirmation of the phase six film SECRET WARS, be prepared to see more of this book hit the market in the event the community sees Tom Holland don the Black Suit. With a smidge of Venom left behind after the events of NO WAY HOME, the potential is there, but hopefully not for another emo, jazz-dancing Peter Parker. We tracked 17 copies sold at a 7-day trend of 119% with a high sale of $850 for a CGC 9.8 with a Raw FMV of $147.

#18 DAREDEVIL #227 | MARVEL | 1986
Marvel sure knows how to build anticipation before delivering, with their announcement of a new Daredevil series, Born Again. This book marks the beginning of that fantastic run and the discovery of Daredevil’s true identity by Kingpin. Fans are preparing for the event (and hope) Marvel directly adapts this iconic story. We tracked 31 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 128%, with a high sale of $635 for a CGC 9.8 (up from last week’s $400 9.8 sale) and a raw FMV of $24.

#19 ANT-MAN #1 DAVID BALDEON (1:25) | MARVEL | 2022
Sales started strong with 21 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 90%, with a high sale of $56 for a raw copy with an FMV of $29. However, raw prices have fallen to a current FMV of $28. The next issue, issue #2, features a potentially new Ant-Man in Eric O’Grady, the former Irredeemable Ant-Man who plans to rob the grave of Scott Lang (he’s not a very cool dude.) We will see if this series sees continued success with the potential introduction of a new and redeemed Ant-Man.

#20 MARVEL SUPER-HEROES SECRET WARS #10 | MARVEL | 1985
This book sports one of the best Doom covers of all time from the awesome Mike Zeck, the visage of Doom after his battle with the Beyonder. When Secret Wars was announced at SDCC and Fantastic Four on the horizon, fans couldn’t help but theorize Dr. Doom and the Beyonder might be on the horizon as well. If so, this is a must-have book after Doom defeats the Beyonder, ending the Secret Wars (off-panel, no less.) We tracked 21 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 91%, with a high sale of $227.50 for a CGC 9.8 and a Raw FMV of $19.
