Comic Picks of the Week for Delivery 3/29/23

Every week, tons of new books hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are the picks of the week for delivery this Wednesday

Hey Wednesday Warriors. It is the dreaded fifth week edition. The gift week is just that, the fifth Wednesday of the month, where publishers tend to put out less regularly scheduled books, and more specials, annuals, one shots, than anything else. Here is what is on tap this week:

New #1’s

Clobberin Time #1 – Marvel – Ben and the Incredible Hulk are stranded on a distant, ancient, alien world, where the duo must protect an ancient people against legions of Deviant hordes and ultimately face the wrath of a Celestial. Luckily, they have four fists between them!

Don’t Spit In The Wind #1 – Mad Cave – Since earth became inhospitable, humanity escaped ages ago to live in a space station floating above the atmosphere. Now Travis and his crew of garbage men are tasked with cleaning up mountains of toxic waste, working for a company called Atomic Bros INC., to create a “Clear World.” But when one of Travis’ crew members goes missing near an old nuclear facility Travis’ job becomes a bit more complicated.

Dungeons & Dragons Saturday Morning Adventures #1 – IDW – Classic 80’s D&D Cartoon favorites are back, Uni and all.

Granite State Punk #1 – Zeke has just gotten released from prison and is now living in the last place he ever wanted to be… his dead parents’ house. For years, he tried to drown every ounce of the memories of this place and his messed-up childhood. Zeke is now forced to confront it and the revelation that his past is filled with the occult, punk rock, dark magic, and its connection to New Hampshire’s most historic landmark, The Old Man of the Mountain.

Its Jeff #1 – Marvel – Everyone’s favorite Jeff the Shark, online mini-comics get printed.

Monster Tag Team #1 – Much like the classic Marvel team-ups, except with monsters. First up is the Wolfman and Dracula.

Star Wars Return Of The Jedi Jabbas Palace #1 – Marvel – rumor of a first appearance here.

Unstoppable Doom Patrol #1 – New chapter of Doom patrol with at least one new character

Venom Lethal Protector II #1 – blockbuster story that will take Venom from the streets of NYC to the kingdom of Latveria as EDDIE BROCK is challenged like never before! What (or WHO) will Venom need to overcome the fiercest foe in the Marvel U? One thing’s for certain, this monster’s bringing the mayhem!

Vampirella Year One #6 – Vampirella has a baby.

Small Press Pick of the Week
Spend The Night The Curse Of One-Eyed Jenny #1 – Kong Comics – 80’s schlock horror director Jackie Kong is releasing a new horror comic. A Slumber Party goes Very, Very wrong, forcing the attendees to conjure One-Eyed Jenny from the dead. Should they strike a deal with this evil spirit? Will they find themselves in endless nightmarish Sleep-overs?

Pick of the Week
Indigo Children #1 – This is a pretty easy one, already optioned for a movie. Now, whether or not it makes it to screen, I will still be grabbing a copy or two.
