CovrPrice.Com Runners-Up for Week of 11/3/23

As promised, the Covrprice.com Top 10 Runners-up list. The second half of the Top 20.

11. VOID RIVALS #5 – JAE LEE (1:50)
Void Rivals continues to kick ass on the aftermarket, with some of the hottest variants upon each release. The most recent, issue #5, saw a 1:50 masterpiece from legendary Jae Lee, and fans were enamored immediately. It was admittedly tough to secure, as Void Rivals is popular, but LCS are loathe to order 50 copies of anything to guarantee a variant. That led to high aftermarket prices for those who could secure a copy, leading us to track 17 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 135%, with a high sale of $115 for a raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $100.

12. GHOST RIDER #17 – BJORN BARENDS
We’re amid the Weapons of Vengeance crossover, one which the community had no idea it wanted nor needed. Yet, here we are, and it’s seeing heavy aftermarket movement along with Wolverine #36. Ghost Rider and Wolverine typically don’t interact much, but this stunning Bjorn Barends variant showcases the potential of combining these characters. This book was hard to find, specifically because folks were not prepared for what was to come. At least, until they saw the final page in this issue and a full cover preview for Wolverine #36 featuring Hellverine in all his fiery glory! We tracked seven copies sold at a 7-day trend of 183%, with a high sale of $49.95 for a raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $33.

13. GHOST RIDER #17 – RYAN STEGMAN – REGULAR
Weapons of Vengeance was exactly the crossover the comic book community needed! It successfully shook up the status quo and gave us an amalgam of characters the fandom can get behind (Hellverine). Rarely does it work so smoothly, but this book(s) made it happen. Now that Wolverine #36 is growing ever more challenging to come by in the wild, fans are turning to both versions of this book to secure what could be argued as the “first” appearance of Hellverine, as he appeared on the final page in a preview for Wolverine #36. We tracked eight copies sold at a 7-day trend of 190%, with a high sale of $25 for a raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $18.

14. ULTIMATE FALLOUT #4
Spider-Man 2 is here (no spoilers), and it’s an overwhelming success, becoming the fastest-selling PlayStation game in a day. This book, of course, marks the first appearance of Miles Morales, a prominent protagonist in the second game, sharing the spotlight with the original Spider-Man after getting his offshoot in Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

Not to mention, Marvel is revisiting the Ultimate Universe, where Miles got his start. He’s everywhere, and his first appearance has solidified itself as a modern grail for many! We tracked 21 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 100%, with a high sale of $1,400 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $393.

15. BLOODSTRIKE VOL.1 #1
Deadpool isn’t the only Rob Liefeld creation to see some heat lately. Liefeld recently posted a ‘proof of concept’ video for a Bloodstrike production that he aimed to pitch to studios on his social media accounts. It was animated and gory as hell. It was awesome and would fit with the growing trend of animated features aimed at adults (i.e., Invincible), but on a grander scale. Fans quickly visited the aftermarket to secure a copy of this cheap and plentiful key. While it’s lost some steam, it’s still trending well with 28 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 17%, with a high sale of $100 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $5.

16. WEB OF SPIDER-MAN VOL.1 #1
We’ve mentioned Spider-Man 2 multiple times so far. It features the Black Suit and Venom in the same title, with fans revisiting the roots of both. This book is an early Black Suit appearance and is relatively cheap compared to some of the other keys. It’s a modern grail for many and one that is attainable for sub $30, and it routinely sells well. We tracked 19 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 107%, with a high sale of $177.50 for a CGC 9.8 copy with a raw NM FMV of $28.

17. GODZILLA VOL.1 #1 – REGULAR
Godzilla is one of the most beloved and popular IPs ever. He has a massive fandom, a fandom lucky enough to see him receive a literal Godzilla amount of solid media to satiate them over the years. The most recent Godzilla Minus One no doubt inspired fans to revisit this book, the first ongoing Godzilla series aimed at the US market. This cover bears a striking resemblance to the Godzilla featured in the trailer to boot. In addition, Apple TV has Monarch hitting in a few weeks, and numerous Godzilla titles are hitting the shelves at your local LCS. The King of Lizards is back in a big way, and the fandom is feasting right now! We tracked 16 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 127%, with a high sale of $225 for a CGC 9.6 and a current raw NM FMV of $59.

18. NOVA VOL.1 #1
Nova is set to have an appearance in the MCU…sometime. He was supposed to get a movie, then a series on Disney+ which caused this book to trend on both occasions. Recently, the name Nova, as in Frankie Raye Nova, has been on the minds of many. Some fans opted to visit this book as well, whether that be because of a market that has recently calmed down or because Nova is trending. Still, the first appearance and origin of Richard Rider Nova is a book with a ton of potential behind it, and the aftermarket movement is evidence of that. We tracked 15 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 117% and a high sale of $285 for a CGC 9.6 and a raw VF FMV of $67.

19. SPIDER-MAN VOL. 1 #1 – SILVER
*MINOR SPOILERS FOR SPIDER-MAN 2*
This issue is an iconic Spider-Man book as it helped launch the much-loved McFarlane run on Spider-Man. In the lead-up to Spider-Man 2, fans were begging for one of the new suits in the game to be this version of Spidey. Minor *SPOILERS AHEAD* Sadly, not one of the 70-plus suits in the game was this version. Still, this book constantly changes hands for what it signifies, albeit at a higher level last week. We tracked 23 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 108%, with a high sale of $118 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $12.

20. WOLVERINE VOL.1 #3
This book is a classic that has been blowing up lately. It doesn’t have flashy first appearances or anything. It’s a classic because of the series it hails from and its cover. Of the four, this is the only book, and arguably the greatest, to ever feature a humbled Logan. On the first cover, he’s cocky, while on the 2nd, he’s backing it up. The 3rd cover has him down and out and not at all the Logan we know before returning with a vengeance for the 4th. It’s a whole arc of its own, and it’s recently seen significant action! We tracked 12 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 226%, with a high sale of $245 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw VF FMV of $19.
