Dirty D’s F.O.C. (9/1/24)

Hello everyone. I’m back from a bit of a hiatus.

It is officially September….and with that comes football and hurricanes and school and before you know it NYCC will be here!

Anyway, battling a late summer cold on this Labor Day weekend. So going to fly through this and get some needed rest.

Note: Sorry for some of the TFAW links. They mistakenly had a number of these books on FOC last week so some have been removed as a result.

COVERS

Old allies explore new positions.

Solicitation says it all. Did not really see any “great” covers this week, so switching things up with one that’s a little riske for the Dirty D Cover of the Week!

Moon Knight Fist of Khonshu #1 (Platt Variant)

Marc Spector is back. And so is MK favorite cover artist Stephen Platt with this variant.

FIRST ISSUES

Sir Charles Ward, “The Dragon Butcher,” has achieved knighthood, acclaim. Venturing to a mysterious island in the Far East, Charles leads his diverse assembly of fighters (including a giant and two clerics) to seek vengeance against savage monsters who ambushed a group of English missionaries. Arrival on the island reveals that the truth may be drastically different from what Charles was led to believe, and the “savage monsters” he will face are actually a regiment of skillful warriors the likes of which he has never seen.

New series from Image. There is a variant sketch art cover by Todd McFarlane as well (shown below).

Loeb returns to the world of The Long Halloween for its long-anticipated final act: Batman: The Last Halloween, an all-new 10-part mystery continuing the story from 2021’s The Long Halloween Special. In each issue, Loeb will be joined by one of the top artists in comics, in a beautiful and lovingly crafted tribute to Sale’s art and legacy.

Cover A is the Tim Sale art cover. R.I.P.

A DEFIANT IMPERIAL takes center stage – and goes on the offensive against the NEW REPUBLIC! LEIA makes a startling discovery in the forests of ENDOR! Who are the mysterious and deadly ACOLYTES OF THE BEYOND?! What is the new villain’s connection to DARTH VADER? All this as the post-Return of the Jedi storytelling BEGINS!

All regular star wars titles were ended recently. Looks like they’re going to pick up with a few limited series.

FIRST APPEARANCES

A new ghost rider (Fantasma) debuts in this book. She’s also featured on this variant cover.

When Tygra mysteriously vanishes, taking the Eye of Thundera with him, Lion-0 and the rest of the ThunderCats thrown into turmoil. But things really get confused when Tygra reappears as an old man! He claims to have been sent into the past through a mishap with a time door, and forced to survive in isolation on Third Earth until he caught up to the present day. But the old Tygra seems changed in more fun- damental ways than his age- – and those changes are definitely not for the better!

Old Man Tygra debuts, as well as a character called “Apex”…which seems to possibly resemble an old Man Lion-O, maybe…? He’s on one of the FOC variants (see below).

Wade has fallen, and his daughter Ellie has taken up the mantle.

Ok, not a first appearance or even first in costume, but Wade’s daughter looks to officially take over as Deadpool in this issue. Long term spec at best, but possible milestone issue for this character.

Personally, I like the Bagley cover (below).

That’s it for this FOC. Have a great week!
