First Wednesday of the new year promises to be bigger than the last Wednesday of 2014.
Each week hundreds of new comics hit the stands, most with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones that we think have the best chance of heating up. Here are our picks of the week for 1/7/15.
Lets get right into it:
The pick of the week:
Feathers #1– Avatar the last Airbender meets Hellboy.
A recluse boy born covered in feathers must help his firstever friend, a young girl named Bianca, as she tries to return to her home beyond the slums of the Maze. They must dodge street gangs and childsnatchers along the way, and perhaps together will learn the secrets to his mysterious past.
The Small(er) Press Gem:
Lady Killer #1– Betty Draper meets Hannibal. Joelle Jones new book. Love her art.
The rare Marvel on the list:
Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #1– People love the girl who dates Wolverine and beat Thanos in a fight. All while dressed as a Squirrel. Lot’s of fan girl cross over, plus Marvel Women books have been doing really well. People do love Squirrel Girl
The rare Marvel on the list Part 2:
Ant-Man #1– strong showing of variants, including the one of a kind “Shrinking Ant-Man” cover.
That is it for us this week, as always, let us know what you are spec-ing on.
I picked up Lady Killer(Love me some Joelle Jones) and Ant-Man!
Ant man is getting great reviews
Ant-Man is great. If you liked Superior Foes, then this is one to get.
I thought Squirrel Girl was going to be too cutesy, but I really liked it.
Squirrel Girl is a force to be recogned with. People have been paying money for her
Early apearances. Do not think they will let this slip by
You guys are killing me.. I wasn’t even going to bother with Squirrel Girl.. now I’m gonna skim through it and likely buy it.. not helping my addiction.
As for Ant-Man, if it’s the same style as Superior Foes, then I’m probably gonna get hooked immediately. Superior Foes was probably Marvel’s latest underrated comics, I even liked it better than Hawkeye eventually..
I’m really excited about Lady Killer.
