In December, Jon Goldwater, CEO of Archie Comics participated in a Reddit AMA. During the chat Goldwater coyly said Afterlife With Archie could become a television series or a movie, but an interview from October with the comic’s writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa reveals the real plan.

CBR: Roberto, is there anything else folks show know at this point about “Riverdale”?
Nothing, except that we’re really, really excited — and that if, god willing, this works out the way we all want it to work out, every Halloween we’ll be doing an “Afterlife” episode of “Riverdale.”
Afterlife with Archie was hot out of the gate and cooled off due to a slow shipping scheduled. Could this breath life back into ‘Afterlife’?
This title has never cooled for me. Issues are always selling including the new magazine series which sold out quickly.
Prices took a dip but the book still is a great seller. Sabrina showed promise but the lack of an issue in three months may have killed it.
The company kept doing the greedy route and delaying release for increase an increase in sales/orders. They even raised the price on book 7 1$ after making a delay!
It obviously means it is a hot series but the company itself has also put a little water on the fire.
I still think ultimately #1 and 5 6 7 variants will heat up again.
I can still pick up Sabrina #1 at one of my local shops.. I just didn’t bother with that one.
As for Afterlife with Archie, I’m hoping the Pepoy variants do heat up again, I have a few to dump when the time is right.
Sabrina was good. Bery dark. Would ne worth picking up when the seties starts up again
