Comic Picks of the Week for Delivery 8/6/25

Every week, tons of new books hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are the picks of the week for delivery this Wednesday

What is up Wednesday Warriors? Light week, some good covers, if you are a JSC fan. Some cool new series. Light on the spec however. Here is what’s on tap.

New Series
Blink And Youll Miss It #1 – Melody Nelson and Jesse Harmon fell in love long ago in the tiny town of Perennial Harbor, but since they parted ways, that place has grown stranger and stranger… Everything is just as it was decades ago, and the strained smiles of its residents mask a bizarre secret. When Melody’s life begins to unravel and she finds herself slipping backward in time, she must uncover the truth behind this mystery before it destroys her… And the only one she’s ever cared for.

Cheetah And Cheshire Rob The Justice League #1 – Greg Rucka and Nicola Scott bring you a slick, stylish heist that guarantees fun, laughs, and more than a few twists and turns. Cheetah and Cheshire assemble a team of misfits and oddballs to pull off the impossible–robbing the Justice League Watchtower…and getting away with it.

Fortress #1 – A soldier wakes with his bionic limbs missing and finds that he’s the target of a manhunt. Fortress #1 is the beginning of a new, ongoing action sci-fi series self-published by Joel van der Knaap. Genre mayhem at its finest!

Godzilla Escape The Deadzone #1 – New Godzilla series in the new Godzilla shared universe. Inside the new IDW Godzilla universe, there exists a mystery larger than any other-what is the Deadzone? Inhabitants of this new world know the Deadzone to be a walled-off portion of the Pacific Northwest, sequestered after the most disastrous Godzilla attack the country has ever faced. The government would have its citizens believe that nothing is still alive inside the Deadzone… but do you believe that? There are stories of a man. Or rather…a half kaiju, half man… who travels freely throughout the Deadzone. Some say he can even kill a kaiju. Some say… he’s not the only of his kind.

Hero Trade Project Chimera #1 – New York Times bestselling writer Matt Kindt (BRZRKR) joins forces with world-renowned artist David Lapham (STRAY BULLETS) once more to bring you this thrilling 64-page issue, the first in a two-part action-packed epic, PROJECT CHIMERA, the biggest HERO TRADE story yet. As lead agents at Project Chimera, Hank and Ingrid are tasked with a vital mission: keep Trey and Trina, twin teenagers with world-destroying powers, in check. Under Hank and Ingrid’s watchful eye, the teens remain locked away in a tightly-secure black site, conditioned to believe they cannot survive the outside world and unleashed only when lethal force is required. Hank and Ingrid have always kept to the mission and followed orders. Until now. Trey is beginning to unravel, becoming a bloodthirsty berserker when he’s let off the leash, leaving Hank and Ingrid shaken. And Trina, once the model asset, is starting to question everything. With whispers of a mole embedded deep within the organization threatening to bring the entire operation down, Hank and Ingrid find themselves tangled between duty, deception, and a forbidden affair that could just cost them their lives.

Orla #1 – Love is a monster. Orla Bard is an antique restorer, romance novel enjoyer and keen birder. She also believes in true love, continuing to navigate Seattle’s singles scene despite repeated disappointment. But Orla has a secret. She is afflicted with The Ick, a man-eating monstrous entity dwelling inside her, who violently emerges whenever she gets too angry or afraid. Unable to rid herself of this curse, Orla uses The Ick to save other women by removing the scummiest men from the dating poolàpermanently. Hearts (and bodies) will be broken in this offbeat romcom/creature-feature mashup!

Cul-De-Sac #1 – Imagine Sam Keith doing a horror book and this is what comes to mind. A nightmarish new vision for the horror genre. What lurking evil lies hidden at the end of the cul-de-sac? Nestled in a tucked-away corner of sleepy suburbia, the Kingsley, Herriman and Ortega families seemed like any other close-knit neighbors. So nothing seems amiss when Mrs. Kingsley piles all the neighborhood kids into the family RV for their annual summer camp-out. But in the dark of the woods, she unleashes a grisly, bloodcurdling display, revealing their families’ shocking secret—their parents are vampires and they’re eager to pass on their legacy. Now the children must choose—to join them and revel in their awesome dark powers or live out their lives as mortals. But when they return home, they confront a gruesome scene—their parents dead on the floor, brutally murdered by an elite squad of vampire hunters. And the hunters? They’re looking to finish the job. Now the kids are on the run, chased by vampire hunters, the police, and even a shadowy cabal of their fellow vampires as they search for answers to unlock the secret of what they really are before their fates are sealed forever.
