COVERS
Justice League Unlimited #21 (Swimsuit Variant)
A Little Beefcake with the Cheesecake! What is the Atom doing…?
Ito is killing it with these variant covers for Capes.
Flash Gordon Quarterly #8 (Tula Lotay – Cover A)
Every so often we Tula Lotay puts out a pretty cool cover. Not many likely pick up Flash Gordon, though.
Notable Reprints
Amazing Spider-Man #100 (Facsimile Edition – Foil Variant)
I think I’d rather have this facsimile edition than any of the issue #1000 copies…
Daredevil #1 (Marvel Television – 4th Print)
(Daredevil #2 Marvel Television – 3rd Print)
Daredevil #3 Marvel Television – 2nd Print
Nice three cover matching set of Daredevil issues 1 thru 3.
Jay & Silent Bob: Jays of Future Past #1 (2nd Print – Amazing Fantasy #15 Homage)
NEW ONES
Tarrare the cannibal may be compelled to eat, but Lady Charlotte (codename: The Python) is a cold-blooded spy compelled to hunt. A visceral game of cat-and-mouse begins as Lady Charlotte hunts down the elusive cannibal stalking the streets of France during the revolution, and she’ll stop at nothing to pursue her prey! Lady Charlotte’s quest for revenge is aided by her former lover Zélie, and together they explore the seedy underbelly of Paris and each other in a hypnotic fever dream. a blood-lusty tale bursting at the seams with vengeance, unbridled sexuality, and most importantly, horror! After all, there’s nothing scarier than a woman’s voracious appetite.
Yikes…Some interesting covers.
The Greatest American Hero #1 (Action Comics #1 Homage Variant)
He’s back. Amp Comics is proud to bring the bumbling superhero from the hit ’80s TV show to a comic shop near you. The Greatest American Hero has returned to reconnect with his son, who only knows him as the “crazy man in red pajamas.” Seven days. One suit. A final sacrifice. The Greatest American Hero gets the ending he deserved. This new first issue includes an additional page and three great covers!
If you’re over 50 like me, you likely have a little nostalgia for this book, based on a somewhat odd television series. Not expecting much from this series, but I do like this cover homage. Seems appropriate!
This Land Is Old and Dark #1 (of 3)
BELOVED BY THE PEOPLE. FEARED BY THE COUNCIL. HUNTED BY SOMETHING PRIMEVAL. Jacques Du Lac is the most adored man in Fort Courage, and that makes him the most dangerous. When the corrupt leadership council decides his popularity threatens their grip on the settlement, they cast him beyond the fort’s impenetrable walls and into the howling dark… where monsters wear the faces of the dead and the wilderness itself remembers every footprint. Crowe, Garcia, and Middleton present THIS LAND IS OLD AND DARK, a tale of colonial cruelty, ancient horror, and the things that stalk in the night!
A lot of words which don’t really tell you much. Limited series.
THE NEXT ERA OF MILES MORALES: SPIDER-MAN STARTS NOW! MILES MORALES is back in black (and red)! SPIDER-MAN thinks he has it allllll handled: homework, super-villains…a new school crush?? No, no–Miles’ is focused on what matters: helping the good folks of Brooklyn. Friendly. Neighborhood. Spider-Manning at his best! But a vengeful villain from Jeff Morales’ past with SHIELD threatens to destroy not only Spider-Man–but the entire Morales family!
I didn’t even realize the last series had ended. Well, a new one begins. A lot of variant covers come with it. None really stand out to me.
A dark and modern sci-fi detective series set five minutes in the future. When a mysterious new predictive artificial intelligence program appears responsible for assisting someone in the perfect murder, a pair of unlikely investigators, a chaotic Gen-Z savant and a veteran FBI agent, must hunt down the killer by starting the FBI’s first AI crimes division.
PICK OF THE WEEK
Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu – Danger in the Dark #1
A hidden danger looms deep beneath the surface of Nevarro and it’s up to the Mandalorian and Grogu to stop it! Joined by a courageous crew of Anzellan friends, Din Djarin and his foundling venture into the lava tubes underneath the city to defuse a crashed pirate ship, facing creepy creatures and perilous obstacles along the way. But with the planet’s safety on the line, can Grogu learn to listen to Mando’s guidance? And can Mando balance teaching Grogu with letting the little guys lead? Don’t miss this high-energy story full of humor and heart!
This is an odd one. A Star Wars comic that is not published by Marvel or Dark Horse, but Papercutz? And at a $6.99 price tag, not sure how shops will approach this. It’s a one shot as well. I don’t see any incentives. Could slip past the radar. Haven’t recommended a Star Wars book in a while, so why not this one?
But be warned…you can buy these books directly from their website…which looks like the put out a lot of Disney kids comics, and Mad Cave?.
