Comic Picks of the Week for Delivery 7/30/26

Every week, tons of new books hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are the picks of the week for delivery this Wednesday

Welcome to the dreaded Fifth Week. The Fifth week is just that, the fifth Wednesday of the month. For the most part, publishers do not put out a lot of regularly scheduled books, and instead, focus on one shots or specials. Sure, you may get some regularly released books, but the week is usually smaller than normal.

What is up Wednesday Warriors? Pretty small week this week, but one must grab and some cool new books. Here is what is on tap:

New Series
Black Star #1 (Titan Comics) – Written by Kristin Kreuk, star of Smallville, Murder in a Small Town and Reacher. Amidst skirmishes between two warring factions in the early nineteenth-century fur trade, Dashiell Carlyle discovers he has magical abilities… and that he’s not alone. Thrust into a secret order with designs to use their magic to build a new and better world, Dashiell discovers that their utopia may come at a horrific cost.

Dirt Beneath The Devil #1 – In the dying days of the American frontier, a young woman journeys into the unknown to claim a legacy she never asked for—and may not survive. June Buckley’s father was a monster in life. In death, he may be something worse. Summoned alongside a group of treacherous heirs, June is forced to traverse the same brutal path that built her father’s empire. But the trail reveals more than hardship—it exposes the rot in every soul traveling beside her. And at the center of it all is Hendido…a creature bound to her father’s past, and perhaps to something far older and much more wicked. As the tension simmers and night closes in, June begins to understand: Her inheritance comes at grisly price.

Greatest American Hero #1 – 80’s kids take note… He’s back. Amp Comics is proud to bring the bumbling superhero from the hit ’80s TV show to a comic shop near you. The Greatest American Hero has returned to reconnect with his son, who only knows him as the “crazy man in red pajamas.” Seven days. One suit. A final sacrifice. The Greatest American Hero gets the ending he deserved.

Horror Of Godzilla #1 – A terrifying look at Godzilla’s first attack! Tokyo, 1954. As the country begins to look toward its postwar future, two scientists start an experiment in the Pacific Ocean. It is meant to change everything…and it will. Come now, reader, and bear witness to the incredible horror of the King of the Monsters. There are no heroes. There are no survivors. There is only the wrath of Godzilla. This standalone four-issue miniseries serves as a prequel to the Kai-Sei Era while also being perfect for fans of Godzilla: Minus One, Shin Godzilla, and Godzilla (1954).

Nano #1 – New series by world-renowned visual artist Alexandra Grant, BRZRKR’s Matt Kindt, and Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur’s Natacha Bustos. Sana is a bad-ass operative of the underground organization The Order. She and her longtime comrade, Lukas, have been assigned to Nano, a mega-city run on prison labor and roiling from blackouts. While Lukas is tasked with infiltrating Nanocorp’s secretive research facility, Sana’s mission is something she’s never trained for: playing the doting wife of Lukas’s cover. In her guise as a middle school P.E. teacher, she’s forced to cool her jets and teach 8th graders stretching, while Lukas puts himself in danger. But when the signs are unmistakable and Lukas’s mission is clearly going sideways, Sana can no longer sit on the bench.

Queen In Black #1 – On the farthest edges of the solar system, KNULL, GOD OF THE VOID, builds a brand-new army to destroy Earth…but HELA OF ASGARD might have gotten there first — as she makes planetfall with a legion of the galaxy’s deadliest symbiotes! Two of the most powerful evils in the galaxy are at war…and the SON OF VENOM is caught right in the middle!

Batman and Lex Luthor must work together to investigate a Justice League villain who wants to fill that void, capitalizing on shifting priorities and the visions of the future that the DC Universe’s champions saw at the end of DC K.O. to create a dangerous new weapon! Pick of the Week
Savage Dragon #281 – Seeing sales around $13-15 pre-sale, without seeing if there are any naughty bits in there. So, could end up not panning out. But right now this is the best flip, sold out at many online stores.
