Weekend Open Forum

Sorry have been away and with a sick child all weekend. Will have updates again tonight. Will also pick the winner for the latest ComicXposure giveaway.

In the meantime, let’s hear about your weekend pick ups. What books did you read that were great? Or anything else that was going on.

  1. I’m sick too. Stuck at home. Been picking up Disciple and We Can Never Go Home variants that I could find. Anyone have a list of the different ones available? Also picked up Invincible, and several other books. Enjoy your Sunday guys.

    1. Did you get the Forbidden Planet/ Jetpack Disciples variant yet?! Super creepy cover.

      1. Yes I did. Also picked up a SaleFish and Rubber Chicken store covers, a Newburry comic store cover, and a Beach Ball Variant. Didn’t get a BAM cover yet.

  2. Hit the LCS a 2nd time this week yesterday. Picking up Black Science as I am now hooked to the series. Finally read Lantern City #1 – WOW. Awsome story, incredible artwork, and an all around ‘A’ comic. This one loks like a keeper to me if it keeps it up. Also picked up Invisible Republic based on a recommendation.

  3. I have been reading a really cool graphic novel called the sculptor – great so far!

  4. Picked up The Uncanny Avengers HC (issues # 1-25) from the library. Slow burn so far…lots of filler issues.

  5. been selling the heck out of Howard the duck run the jewels black and white variant

  6. Always perk up my ears a bit when shameless introduction of new character(s) appear-such as the case is w Capt marvel and the Carol Corps. Also looks like it’s sold out @ Diamond(?) so i can’t see it hurting to have picked up a couple extra of them. Scored a NM Nonplayer first print. Everyone’s gettin crazy w selling prices- but i really see the score on the pudding(and the proof therein) being in creative team’s ability to develop story and release w consistency. If not consider this nothing more than a fun book to brag about having-lucky to sell for 17.99 in that future scenario. Also Future Imperfect set-i remember looking at Eternal Warrior 4 NM for 4.99 and thinking, ahh, I’ll get it later. W/i a week..well. I’m not aware of print run on these, but I’d be willing to wager finding FI’s won’t be a problem-although that won’t stop any premature inflation and hysteria. I can see this hitting $20 a piece any given (over)night-so i picked up a set and an individual of issue 1. Also invested in “It will all hurt” #1 through their site. However there is a disclaimer that in ordering u may not get 1st print as they are “running on fumes” and u may be sent “prettier” 2nd print. Didn’t want to seem pretentious and request to squash the order if none available-so we’ll see. Honestly looking forward to getting oriented w some awesome and zany art and storytelling eitherway. Got my hands on Barbwire ashcan-selling for 8.99 w shipping(this is not a plug) more curious than anything else to see if it’s too late to capiyolize on that interest, or if all wants are satisfied across the lands. Sorry so long winded-this is my first post-just loving the exchange of thoughts that help make all of this possible and happy to have the chance to be a part of it!

    1. Also, before a feeding frenzy on Cap Marvel & The Carol Corp starts up it is no way sold out at Diamond. I just checked my retailer log in, and the variants have gone purple triangle (Back order not stocked), but the regular cover is still a green triangle (stocked locally). That means Diamond is still sitting on plenty of copies for retailer re-orders.

  7. Picked a BOP #1, a Marvel Now Point One #1, X-Force 116, the gold cover for Spider-Man #1, Lumberjanes #2 & 3, and the 1:10 variant for We Can Never Go Home #1 from a local Hastings while I was travelling. I love small town Hastings, they’re like friggin’ gold mines for back issues.

  8. Hope your kid gets better Tony. Having a sick kid is ridiculously stressful and time consuming. I’ve been doing good in trades. Got a shock suspenstories 7 in f-vf- for cheap. Also picked up a Bitch Planet #1 signed /150 and a Bitch Planet #1 blood red signed /75.
There’s a place in town that sells boxes of random issues for $20. I bought one, but I haven’t gone through it yet. After getting one of my favorite horror covers I have to go on the lookout for my next target. Although, right now I’m trying to get a VF copy of Strange Tales #126. I’ll update on Wednesday!

      1. 100 issues in the box. Marvel, DC, Image, indie mix. The owner puts them in the box. Next time I go I’ll grab one for you. They aren’t there always, but when they are they sell out fast. I’m going to go through mine tonight. Once the kids head to bed.

        1. My big deal of the weekend was picking a quarter bin box and pulling a The Valiant #4 1:20 Matt Kindt variant out of there. First appearance of the book of death in this summers Valiant event.

      2. That’s a super sweet pick there. I know there’s press for The Book of Death event, but I still think it’s a bit under the radar. That’s actually an event I’m more excited about than I was for secret wars.

  9. Picked up Marvel Now Point One #1 first and second printings. Looked through the second printing after I got home and found a mis-cut/mis-staped page. 1st page of the Ms. Marvel story. Always check the inside of the book, boys and girls. Also picked up a New Mutants 18 (first Warlock) and a Wolverine 88 (first Wolverine/Deadpool battle).

  10. I finally read some books last night and this morning. Wow I got to say wytches was a really good read. Enjoyed it. Also read return of the living deadpool 1-3 and like always Colin Bunn does it again. Great read. Also read Harrow County from Collin Bunn and it didn’t cough my attention. I think it’s because of the art. The story is good but the art is not all there for a story like that. Also read other small indis and dropped a lot of them for the same fact that they didn’t cough my attention.

  11. Looks like the Edge of Spider verse Comic Bug variant is picking up steam on ebay. Seen the color variants selling for 40+. Not many auctions up though
