The Hollywood Reporter broke the story a few minutes ago.

In a competitive bidding war, Legendary Television and producer Matt Tolmach have acquired the rights to Greg Rucka and Michael Lark’s dystopian-set comic book series, Lazarus for a scripted TV series.
First released in October 2013 by Image Comics, Lazarus centers on a futuristic world where 16 wealthy families rule society. Each family has a Lazarus, a genetically engineered, unkillable being, who protects the family. Forever Carlyle is a Lazarus, and the central character in the series.

Copies of Lazarus can be found for $5 on ebay for now. (Man I just passed up first prints at my honey hole today, but picked up some killer silver age books cheap.)
Also, Thanks to James for mentioning it. I was reading the article the same time his message popped up, but love the heads up!

  1. Bout time.. so I can dump my copies. I stopped reading this after issue 5, just lost interest. Too much Romeo and Juliet story for me..

  2. No problem Anthony, just read about it myself a few minutes ago. Hope to get some first prints at my LCS tomorrow.

      1. I think I originally picked up 2-3 copies. I think last time I was browsing the back issues my local shops had them available as well.

  3. I bought 25 when they came out in 2013. I picked them up at previews prices. What do you guys think is a good listing price?

    1. Yup, list a few at or right above other prices.. see if you get any nibbles. If they’re biting, list some more and slightly raise some more.. etc. Just like Anthony said, the worst that could happen is you have to lower the price some, but anything over your cover or bought price is doing good if you ask me.

    1. Yeah, I was surprised I made it through 5 issues. Just wasn’t for me but I can see how one wants to option this for a show. Maybe if it ever reaches the screen the show will be better.

  4. Wow! I feel like a pariah for even posting this, but I LOVE this series. Been on my pull list since day one. To each their own! I’m stoked for the news tho..,

  5. I’m with u Brett! I liked the first issue and stuck with it. Rucka created an elaborate world, tailor made for the television treatment. Could be huge if done right. I may hold for now, but will monitor ebay.

  6. Ha, horses for courses and all that but this is actually my favorite current book! Incredible world building by Rucka, so much detail goes into the back story/research stuff at the back of each issue and like all good sci-fi it’s built on concepts of things that could happen and in many cases, is already happening. The art and colouring is also amazing.

  7. One shop had plenty of these available.. I think it had about a 50k print run. I passed, I haven’t even seen the prices jump that much on eBay.. at least not enough for me to list the few I have.

  8. this comic book is GREAT…the only problem with it….it is better material for TV. the story is AWESOME, the plots and the twists are good, but its WAY too much to fit into 30 pages, once a month. this will make an amazing television show…oh and i still love the comic, can’t wait for the next issue.
