Comics Picks of the Week for delivery 5/6/15

Each week hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We give our picks for the books we think have the best chance for heating up. Here are our Picks of the Week for delivery 5/6/15:
Small Press Gem
We Can Never Go Home #2– First issue was a strong seller and hard to come by. And a good story to boot. Second issue print runs drop off so expect this to be harder to find.
The odd DC one on the list
Wonder Woman ’77– Oddly strong buzz on this $8 one shot. But, what boy from the 80’s did not have a crush on Linda Carter. She was in the top two, her and Carrie Fisher in Slave Girl Costume.
The I hope there are no women in the store one
Pussy Cats #1– I do not let shame come in the way of a good flip. The 0 issue sold really well and had a print run below 2,000 copies. Expect the #1 to be about the same and as equally as hard to find.
The Return of the New Favorite
Descender #3– Love the book. Yes, there are big print runs on it, but it is a great story, and do not forget it was optioned before it was released. Also, great story, can’t say that enough.
The Pick of the week
Dead Drop #1– Valiant is on fire. With books like Divinity #1 heating up, I could see this book tied into the big Valiant event this summer doing the same.
That is it for us this week, let us know what you are spec-ing on.

  1. Dead Drop almost made it to my list as well. It’s definitely one to check out. I’m loving Divinity but sad it’s a 4 issue mini series.
And yes, mmmmm… Lynda Carter.. one foxy lady!

      1. I am shocked at the selling prices for Valiant # 1. The regular cover, not variants.
        WOW. This came outta left-field.

      2. It was my top pick back on February 11th..

The Giblet Gravy Pick of the Week:
Divinity #1 – Valiant – A communist astronaut sent deep into the
cosmos turned godlike who can bend matter, space and time.. Science
Fiction at it’s best it sounds like to me. I don’t see this as a quick
flip but if the print run is low and it gains popularity, could be a
nice pick up for long term value. Valiant isn’t known for quick flips
but this one stands out with some potential.
        🙂

      3. This is one I spec’ed on also. Got 20+ of the regular 1s first prints that I paid cover or less for and several various variants. It’s really starting to remind me of Valiant of the early nineties when I was flipping pre-Unity stuff, post Unity.

        1. That was an awesome spec. I got one of the design covers as it was most appealing to me visually and have picked up the design covers for each of the subsequent releases.
