San Diego Comic Con 2013 leads to big news and bigger comic book speculation

In the early part of 2013, comic books were flying off the shelves and flying on to the secondary market for big profits. Books like Image Comics ‘Peter Panzerfaust’, ‘Saga’, Oni Press ‘The Sixth Gun’ and Dark Horse Comics ‘Mind MGMT’ ‘Star Wars’ were showing up on Amazon and eBay at multiple times cover price. People were buying them up. The secondary market was robust and sales were great. By the time May rolled in, sales had slowed down and comics were just not selling as well. Part of this had to do with summer setting in and people were using money for vacations and other things and not spending time online. Well, after San Diego Comic Con 2013 ended, comic sales are up again and the second half of the speculator season is open.
If you are unfamiliar with the San Diego Comic Convention or SDCC as those in the know call it, it is the biggest multi-media event in The United States. SDCC is more than just comics, much to the chagrin, of many comic fans; instead it is a multi-day celebration of all things pop culture. Movies are previewed and announced, TV deals are made and announced, and product sales, especially of convention exclusives, boost retailer’s sales
