A Look ahead to March and April

There are a ton of cool books coming out in the spring that are worth speculating on. Most are new series, some with existing characters, check them out and let us know what you think.
March
Veil #1– Out March 5th. Dark Horse horror book done by Greg Rucka. A beautiful girl wakes up in an abandoned subway station with no memory of how she got there. When men try to hurt her they wind up dead. Yes, it is a mini-series. If it does well, expect a series of mini-series in the same vein as Hellboy.
Soverign #1– Out March 19th. An epic fantasy in the tradition of Game of Thrones, SOVEREIGN is set in a world which once knew gods, demons, and magic, and to which all three are returning.
Starlight #1- Out march 5th. Mark Millar does space opera. I am mixed on this one. If it is anything like Jupiter’s Legacy, it will have a huge print run and will be sporadically released. On the other hand, everything Millar does gets a movie.
April
Lumberjanes #1– Comes out April 9th. Described as, It’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Gravity Falls and features five buttkicking, rad teenager girls wailing on monsters and solving a mystery with the whole world at stake. Done by acclaimed cartoonist Noelle Stevenson and talented newcomer Grace Ellis writing and Brooke Allen on art. Creative team has a wildly popular web comic.
Hulk #2– Comes out April 30th. Following the shocking events of last month’s INDESTRUCTIBLE HULK finale, Bruce Banner lies at death’s door! If he survives, it WON’T be as the Bruce Banner we’ve known! New Hulk Movie is supposed to be based on Indestructible Hulk. If the movies does well, it is worth the guess that this could be the sequel. Creative team of Mark Waid, Mark Bagley, Jerome Opena
Smallville Season 11 Lantern #1– Out April 16th. Smallville had a huge following. This introduces Supes as a Green Lantern. Concept looks cool.
Translucid #1 Out April 16th. Claudio Sanchez and Chondra Echert have given us such BOOM! Studios favorites as KILL AUDIO, THE AMORY WARS and KEY OF Z. Their latest book takes the superhero trope of ‘the never-ending battle’ and turns it into something you’ve never seen before. Amory Wars did well on the secondary market, and the tie in with Coheed and Cambria is not a bad thing.

  1. I’m looking forward to the bunker and white suits (from five ghosts scribe Frank Barberie) in February. Then the Auteur (which debuted at NYCC) and dead letters. Shutter seems to be getting a big push by Image, as it already has 4 covers announced! And don’t forget about the afterlife with Archie #5 Pepoy variant featuring Veronica.

  2. Veil sounds very interesting. The story seems unique.
Also looking forward to the new Silver Surfer and what the interest level is for it. Likely not a title to gain any value in the future, but I love the Silver Surfer.

      1. Silver Surfer is on top of my list just because Mike Allred is drawing it 😛 This somehow fills up the void that the recent FF volume left.
