Manifest Destiny #4 sold out

Catching up on my RSS feed, I have so many stories that I haven’t read yet.
Manifest Destiny Is a bonafide hit. The first issue is selling at a premium, and sold out. The second and third issues sold out as well. Now, Image is reporting the fourth issue has sold out on the distributor level and is going back for a second printing.

The fourth issue of Chris Dingess’ (Being Human) and Matthew Roberts’ (BATTLE POPE) critically acclaimed Skybound series MANIFEST DESTINY has sold out instantly and will go into its second printing. Join the rest of the explorers on the lush, fantasy adventure people can’t stop talking about. MANIFEST DESTINY #4 has completely sold out at the distributor level, but may still be available in comic stores. The second printing of MANIFEST DESTINY #4 is available to order with Diamond Code JAN148061 and will hit stores on 3/12.

Issue #4 is the dynamic first appearance of Sacajawea. She will be really important to the future storylines. Much like the early issues of Peter Panzerfaust, I think this could pick up.
Copies of Manifest Destiny #4 start at $2.25 on eBay and seem to be sold out at most on-line retailers.

  1. Talk about a hot series on the after market. It’s hard to even find ottley #1s for sale on the bay. What worries me is the January sales figure of 12k. That seems awfully low. Are speculators driving the after market, and not new readers? Let’s hope for a spike in the February sales figures…

    1. Better than going through the 90s when it was speculators AND huge print runs. Today I would say it is an even bigger market with new people coming in daily, drawn into it from things like the walking dead and comic book men. Also comic cons.
You can always buy from the big two books if you like big print runs. However I understand your point that maybe 25-50k would be better. Maybe they are going the route of second/third prints over a larger print runs in the early going. Such as saga and thieves. Then when they see if it holds popular after 6 books they can start to increase the print runs.

  2. BTW I saw a #1 cover A 9.8 CGC go for 200$+ on ebay 30 bids. insane. CGC 9.8 sketch cover #1 are going 300-400$ INSANE.
