Dead Letters #1: A comic heating up

It feels good to see some new books moving up this week. Dead Letters #1 sold out before Wednesday’s release, we told you so here as the print run was below 10k. We also had it as one of our Picks of the Week this past week.
Dead Letters #1 has started to really heat up. The on-line retailers are pretty much sold out. The cheap copies of Dead Letters #1 are pretty much gone. Listings now are going for $8.95 and up with a recent copy closing for $16.00.
I will say, that next week is lining up to be a good week as well.

    1. I picked up a few to flip. I haven’t read it yet cause I don’t think the heat will last..

  1. Found a site selling the eccc variant for only 10 dollars. It’s limited to 500 copies

  2. Graham Crackers Limit one per person 9.99 they have some other ECCC variants.

  3. Anthony, do you think this will fizzle or does it maybe have some staying power? Personally I enjoyed the book, and it has generally favorable reviews. Hmmm. Not sure if i should grab a few more tho.

    1. I think it’s gonna fizzle personally but you never know. Since it’s not a mini-series and is an ongoing series, it stands a chance at only gaining popularity. If more readers jump on, then most of those readers want a copy of #1 as well.
I grabbed a few extra myself, even bought the ECCC variant mentioned above.

  4. Yeah, ongoing series seem to have more staying power since they are ongoing. They pick up readers along the way. Mini-series die quickly in most cases since everyone buys and then forgets about them. New readers only find out about mini-series after the fact, then they just pick up the TPB or similar.

  5. I haven’t really spec’d hard on this, although had it on my hit list. Drew I agree with your assumptions, of its very brief desiribility. I really don’t know why the reason is that it heated up in the first place. There have been far better releases recently. This one was a toss up. I decided to avoid. The strongest predictor will be its demand after this week’s stronger showing on the shelves.
    D-

  6. I finally read it this morning. The writing is okay, I wouldn’t say it’s the best or anything innovative.
Spoiler Alert, stop reading if you don’t want to know…
Not only did they use the classic storyline of the main character waking up, not knowing where they were, who they were, etc.. but it was also the now classic.. You’re Dead storyline..
Unless this ends up with a bunch of twists and turns, the writing is top notch and the story line begins to become more original, I can only imagine this series will start of fizzle..

  7. I believe it’s starting to fizzle already. My only listed copy went for a whopping $4.99 auction style with just 1 bid. Wheeee!!
