Thanks to James G. from the Google+ Comic book speculation and investment community for this tidbit.
The much talked about, highly anticipated comic from Image comics Nailbiter #1 by Joshua Williamson and Mike Henderson isn’t coming out until May. However, the first appearance of the comic came out in a book this week.
The book it appeared in is also a book by Joshua Williamson, so it kind of makes sense. Ghosted #9, has a preview of Nailbiter in the back. Ghosted is one of my top 5 books (especially since it will most likely end up with a media deal since it is a Skybound book). Ghosted #9 is wrapped in an awesome possessed animal cover, but the real draw will be the appearance of Nailbiter, expecially if Nailbiter takes off.

Do previews go for big bucks? I’ve never speced on a book because it had a preview on the back. Didn’t manifest destiny preview in walking dead?
Yes, #115 if I’m not mistaken.
Well that won’t be worth anything!
Not likely because of Manifest Destiny but because it’s Walking Dead! 😉
It all depends. Some pay more for previews, others might not. If the demand is there though, the value will go up because of a comic having a preview within it.
Another one that comes to mind is Chew within the Walking Dead, some pay premium for it while others won’t (some just get stuck with the premium brought on by the others who are shilling out more dollars for the previews portion of the comic).
Yup, chew preview is also 1st Gabriel. Hard to determine which is driving up the price. Personally I don’t think buying up previews is my cup of tea.
But nail biters is already on my pull list! It’s the one in most excited for in may.
I think a small % is Gabriel, most of it is first Chew. Now if Gabriel is ever introduced in the show and becomes a prominent character or figure, then he’ll drive the price up likely but he’s been sort of non-existent in the All Out War, his current status on the Walking Dead wiki is now *unknown* I believe..
Great catch CF. I don’t read Ghosted, although I do have the first issue somewhere. Can’t remember what happened, but recall it being a group that goes into a haunted house- each with a special set of skills or something on those grounds. I could be way off.
Anyway I’ll look for this issue when I hit the store—the cover is designed beautifully, it may get extra pickups this week by casual readers for that alone.

Yea, I’m in pretty hard on this Ghosted 9 title.
I’ve bagged x12 so far for cover. I may get 6-12 more depending on the news / hype leading up to the NailBiter release.
I’m still holding my Ghosted lot. I think I stopped at x8 of 1-3. May go back and fill those holes up to #8, to keep my x8 complete sets.
Did everyone unload their Ghosted books already….tis tis tis!
I agree that this title is a prime pick for a media deal. The content is just edgy enough to keep the audience tuning in, but not too gruesome to turn away a major film / tv entity.
We’ll see!

No I kept mine but only have one set. I am sad to see Manifest Destiny #1 has gone back down in price. I went picking today and came across 3 first prints of Dredd Underbelly. Passed due to my phone saying prices went down on the first prints. Get home and check the computer and they still go for a solid $20. Side note. I listed some big books today. Listed NYX #3 Locke and Key 1-5 first prints, will be listing Captain America 1-15 later.
Yeah, the 2nd prints are barely making the cut at $10, the first prints are still selling though, you should go snag the first prints, at least I would. I think everyone jumped on the bandwagon to just load up and try to sell on the 2nd print, which I gambled and haven’t even gotten a nibble on my Dredd 2nd prints yet I have listed..
Same here in the 2nds. Keep dropping the price too.
Yeah, I dropped some to like $8.99 after seeing some go for $9 – $10, still nothing.
I sold my first copy of dredd 2nd print for $20 and managed to sell 2 more for $10 each I think. I was hoping to sell all of them for at least $20 each but the market got flooded pretty quickly. It sounds like I got lucky.
Manifest destiny is cooling off? Time to buy!
Sorry, I mistyped….
Mercenary Sea is cooling off. Not Manifest Destiny. I got more 2’s and 3’s while I was out birthday picking yesterday.
I think Mercenary Sea will heat up again.. I wasn’t even going to consider this book but I’ve enjoyed every page so far and the art does make me think of a really cool late night cartoon for adults.
I totally recommend it to everyone if you’re not already reading it. I actually have #1 and #2 signed artist copies for sale, but it does seem to be cooling off, as I’ve had no nibbles on my current listing.
Damn Anthony, you got me all exited and scouring eBay for cheap copies of manifest destiny!
I was tired and in my defense I was doped up on allergy meds
Shima, you won’t find any cheap copies of Manifest Destiny on eBay.. gotta hit up the local shops for those unaware of them being in demand right now.. 😉
I am finding 1,2,3 in the wild but gotta be stealthy about it.
I still have my Ghosted set since it’s still in my ongoing monthly reading list. The first arc was cool, I am surprised they’ve managed to keep me reading but they have, I’d recommend it to people to read.
Short preview is normally worth less than first full story if they are published within 2 months. Examples: Hulk 180 and 181. Agents 6 and Walking Dead 1. However Amazing Fantasy 15 was printed 6 months before Amazing Spiderman 1.
Previews are usually worth less than first full stories, correct, but in cases like the first preview of Chew, Peter Panzerfaust, and others, the previews heat up and are highly flippable.
