THE HOT COMIC CALENDAR

By comic book historian Terry Hoknes of www.HoknesComics.com – hoknes@hotmail.com
As a comic book historian I love keeping track of stats.
So I thought it would be interesting to keep a solid log of every single comic that goes up in value.
This calendar is a log of every comic that suddenly becomes hotter and jumps in value with an actual date.
This list should be continually updated and I hope others will add any comics that I may have missed.
Over a period of time we can look for trends and make interesting comparisons

  1. For May 25th the Superman Adventures should be #5 if you’re talking Livewire.

    1. Nope Superman Adventures is earlier on the list. May 25th was #4 when it came to light a preview of Livewire was seen on the letters page in the “coming next issue” box. That is what Terry is referring to

      1. My apologies as I missed that the first time through. I can see #5 down there on April 18th.

        1. No worries. I actually like Terry’s list as it is a quick reference when going in stores. Some of the new books can swap out as they cool off. The older books are worth checking the bins for.

  2. If anyone knows of any comics I missed please let me know – its quite a fascinating list the more complete it is

  3. V-Wars Incentive Covers are doing good. I just sold my 4 cover lot that includes both the 1:100 and 1:200 RI covers for $132. Not bad finding them at retail price at the local shop.

      1. Midtown has them listed at $85 for the 1:100 and $170 for the 1:200, both with 15% off their listed price. I’m not sure of actual retail prices though, the ones I found at a local shop were sitting with all the rest of the #1s, $3.99 cover price.
I’m surprised no one caught them before, these were released on April 30th, I just picked them up last Friday. I’m saving the other group of 4 to see if the show ends up creating another round of heat or more popularity. I read it, was not impressed. I only picked up cause I knew these variants were rare and you don’t pass up quick profit! đŸ™‚

    1. I received a1:100 from amazon, but the seller was clueless, paper thin cardboard in a mailer. It got trashed, but I got a full refund and didn’t have to return it. Sucks that they destroyed it though.

  4. May 26 – Superman Adventures #22 and #23 (1997)
May 28 – Legend Of Bold Riley #1
    March 15 – Manifest Destiny #4
