From what I am seeing on message boards, Rat Queens #2 second printing may be a grail issue of the series.
Lots of people on several message boards have been talking about how difficult it is to find and at this time only one has shown as sold. One copy (mine but I am not linking through to avoid conflict of interest) is for sale.
Keep an eye on this one. I think early to market may pay off big.

What is the street date for this book?
It has been out for months.
why are people so interested in second and later prints? unless there is some very specific cover artist, it would seem that these are basically a consolation prize for people who failed to buy in the first round.
Different cover art and lower print run. 20 people watching it currently
I’m watching myself as I’m curious now on how these might sell. 🙂
It would seem so and I agree with you. I’d rather put my hard earned inflated fiat currency towards a 1st print. And indeed the rare few books I do own of whatever that is a second print or later, do feel like they are lacking in something.
But we are also inside a market of supply and Demand. So crazy things happen. To each their own. I own a stack of image firsts saga #1 just because I could get them for .80 cents. I know it will never go to the moon but it will have trouble going under 80 cents.
what was the print run on the second printings of #2 and how many different covers?
second printing usually is just a single cover. but i have not looked in this rat queens case
It is a single cover.

If I was going to go with a book that was the grail of this series. I’d have to go with the Incentive Fiona Staples Variant Cover #1
Sadly it’s easier to find than the 2nd print #2. Not saying the Staples variant isn’t a key book to the series.
I was speaking more to the massive % increase since the announcement. And she is an incredibly hot artist.
It’s all based on one thing, demand. If there’s a demand, the value goes up. Doesn’t matter about print runs either, those only help push the value higher when the item is not as plentiful, which in the case with most 2nd prints, they’re not as big as the first print. So in this case, most people bought the 1st print. The 2nd print was for those who missed out which was smaller.. now we’re likely seeing more people seek these since a show was announced, pushing the demand for both up, with the 2nd printing harder to find, people are willing to pay a premium for it and likely a premium higher than the 1st printings.
Also the completists who want a collection that includes all printings can drive the demand and price up as well. 🙂
i agree with everything except “likely a premium higher than the 1st printings.”
Not always but if the demand is there, 2nd printings can fetch more at times. We’re seeing it right now. Look below, someone paid $26 for a #2 2nd print and I can still get Rat Queens #1 1st prints for under $20 and find #2 1st prints for under $20 as well. 😉
Heh, Midtown still has #1 1st Printings for $15.. I just ordered 2 more. 🙂
How abt the New York Comic Con (NYCC) Blank cover? There are only 500 of them around. Surely that should be worth more than #2 2nd print or #1 F.S Variant.
Depends on demand. The actual print run has nothing to do with direct and current market value, it’s all based on demand and availability. Now, lower print runs help increase the value when the demand is higher as it’s harder to find since the availability number for sale is lower as well.
You could have something that is one of a kind but worth squat if no one else wants it. 😉
Mine is up to $30 currently.
My 2nd print that is
Yeah, I’m watching it myself as I’m curious. The one I found online for $4.00 should be arriving any day now. I’m only now buying the 2nd prints to make a full complete set of Rat Queens as it’s one of my top favorite reads each month.
I was worried it was gonna be at a standstill as I was watching another auction that ended before yours and the final sale was $12.50 or so, so I was excited to see yours jump in price on it’s final day.
Trust me, I am too. I listed the 2nd print of Rat Queens #2 2nd print of #1 (great cover) Walking Dead 92 and Superman Adventures #5 all this past week (all bought for cover) hoping for a good pay off from this weeks picks to pay for my disastrous trip to wizard World Philly

just bought the only buy now on ebay for $26+$4 shipping!have a feeling these comic will start consistently selling for $25+ dollars now, small roll of the dice for me!
I found one online store that had 1 copy left for $4.00. We’ll see if their online catalog matches what they actually have in inventory. 🙂
I just scored two RQ 1 first print for cover at this store in Wilmington. They had their price points severely warped though. Sex Criminals 1 for 30 bucks? COWL 1 for 8? Spider Man 1 crappy regular cover 9 million print run for 10 bucks? I consider myself lucky!!
Definely searching for some Rat Queens at Heroes Con tomorrow. Scored a Manifest Destiny #1 sketch variant from the artist Matthew Roberts today for $100. He sketched a Minotaur on the front cover, and I submitted it for SS series. Guy has no idea how popular his series is. Really nice and humble.
Wow. Hope you get a 9.8+! That’s a keeper.
I just found 4 copies in a dollar bin with the regular covers as well. SCORE!!
Nice find. The number one is averaging around $20 at the con this weekend. Hardly any issues to be found at all. I’ve seen Nailbiter going for around $10. Latour is from here, so there are a lot of Southern Bastards..all selling well. Also a pretty cool Heroes Con variant. I would look for that one in a week or two on eBay if you’re a fan of the series.
Print run is likely less than 2,000 copies for the 2nd prints of #1 and #2. They did not make the diamond charts.
Thanks Terry!
Since your posting of this, it seems harder to find #1 2nd prints over #2 second prints. I would have to say #1 2nd print is a possible grail issue as well at this point.
