It is a crazy big week this week, with a ton of spec books, new series, and just a lot of comic goodness going on.
Let us know what your pick ups are this week.
Also, Please give a shout out to your local comic shop. Or one that hooks you up.

I’m planning on Cutter #1, God Hates Astronauts #2, The Woods #6, Rat Queens and TWD for sure. Maybe Zombies v Cheerleaders, Cloaks #2, Mercy Thompson and Last Born. Comic Service is my awesome local dealer, but I also buy from Killen’s (you might have seen him on ebay) who has a nice store.
Picked up Last Born and Critical Hit… I liked Last Born a lot better. Dropped Cloaks and Names.
I will be picking up the following books, some just for reads. I mostly order from tfaw.com or Midtown yet hit up Bedrock City Comics here in Houston often.
Critical Hit #1 and Last Born #1 from Black Mask Comics
And then Emily Was Gone #3 from Comix Tribe
Sherlock Holmes Vs Harry Houdini #1 from Dynamite
Men of Wrath #1
Image Books
Cutter #1
God Hates Astronauts #2
Peter Panzerfaust #21
Rat Queens #8
I totally left the Rat Queens and PP connecting variants off the list. I should correct that ASAP.
It’s cool, I saw you dropped Panz off your pull list! lol
And will be added back on if I find the variants cheap.
Rat Queens is still on my pull list.
I forgot to mention And Then Emily Was Gone – I bought a subscription, so they send me both versions of every issue!
I love that book.
Here are a few I’m picking up:
Men of Wrath
Cutter
Peter Panzerfaust
God Hates Astronauts
I have a few coming from TFAW:
Brass Sun #5
Future Proof #1
Here’s a shout to my awesome LCS
4 Color Fantasies in So Cal.
You’re near where I grew up then. Born and raised in Upland.
Here’s my pull list of the ones I plan to pick up for sure:
American Vampire #5 (It’s Snyder)
Alex + Ada #9 (Umm, one of the most underrated books currently?)
Black Science #9 (Love the art, love the story so far)
Fade Out #2 (Brubaker crime story, it doesn’t get any better for crime drama junkies)
God Hates Astronauts #2 (One of the few that make me laugh out loud)
Nailbiter #6 (Me likes, last issue major plot twist)
Peter Panzerfaust #21 (I’m still hanging on)
Rat Queens #8 (If you’re not reading this, well, you should be thrown a blanket party)
Walking Dead #132 (Zombies are talking now? WTF? And the new arrivals want more answers after meeting Negan)
Black Widow #11 (I love the simplicity, the art tells most of the story, good stuff)
Captain America #25 (Fare well Steve, see you in back in action in about a year)
Star Lord #4 (Digging it, if I was a superhero, I see myself like Star Lord, witty, sarcastic with a bit of clumsy in there)
Moon Knight #8 (It’s Moon Knight. Art has been awesome so far which tells most of the story).
Thor #1 (Ummm, it’s a girl now carrying the hammer!)
All other possible pickups will be judged at the LCS.
I actually planned to drop Silver Surfer (I love Silver Surfer but I’m not digging continuity of the new girl on the board story), possibly Hinterkind (last issue didn’t convince me to continue going)
I enjoy your explanations, except I’m not caught up on TWD, so perhaps a spoiler alert is in order lol
Lol. There are very few books I
Caught up in but I do not miss my monthly dose of dead
Haha, glad someone enjoys my weekly pull explanations. 🙂
And yes, WD when it’s released is read first before anything else. The comic industry should give Kirkman an award for drawing people like me (draw me back in at least, I was once an avid reader up until I discovered girls back in 8th grade) to spend countless thousands of dollars each year now buying their stuff..
I discovered girls and still read comics. I miss that life. Young handsome popular guy with nerd tendencies. Playing lacross, riding my skateboard, and still loved comics.
Haha, I focused on sports and girls, dropped my nerd collecting habits.
Always kept my nerd cred. Always
I’m married with kids, I’m all nerd now. 😉
Same here.
LordPoyo. It works
I also nabbed the PP and Rat Queens connecting variants.. whee!
I did end up dropping Hinterkind and Silver Surfer. I can always catch back up with the Surfer on my Marvel Unlimited account in a few months when it starts popping up there.
Black Science is next week.
And I agree with God Hates Astronauts – it’s rare that I have a laugh out loud comic – issue one got me twice.
Oh and there’s a slim chance The Simpsons will end up on my monthly pulls. After reading the Treehouse of Horrors and the kids loving it, I’ll likely be picking up many more.
I also picked up the last Kang & Kodos I think in Austin. At least at the local shops. I had to pick up another one cause I love the bumper stickers included.
I pick up Simpsons out of dollar boxes all te time. I have the full run if the main title, all the treehouse stuff, many of the one shots, and even some of the early spinoffs.
I nabbed a few more Simpsons today. Kids love them too!
Legendary Starlord #4? Could this be a quick flip? Guardians are hot plus it has Thanos on the cover. What do you guys think?
Only if something special is going on in the story, new character, etc. A quick flip, probably not. Thanos junkies will seek it out later most likely but I don’t see quick flip on this one, not when my LCS had stacks of them.
Pickups:
Men of Wrath 1
Burn the Orphanage 5
Fade Out 2
Cutter 1
GHA 2
Nailbiter 6
Silver Surfer 6
Grayson 3
Enormous 4 moved to 10/15. I assume this site is meant to be family friendly so I’ll keep my thoughts about Diamond to myself….?
We all share your thoughts on Diamond.

I have to get some Minternets! Laugh out loud funny that Ryan Browne is!
GHA is a true comic. Most books are really just illustrated stories, but this one knows how to do the “funny pages” right! Brilliant, IMHO.
Wish someone would develope it for Adult swim… Would love to watch it after Rick & Morty (or before, either way works)!
