Comics Picks of the Week for Delivery 10/29/14

Each week, hundreds of new comics hit the shelves, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best chances of heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 10/29/14
The pick of the week:
Rasputin #1– Yes, I know this is a no-brainer. New Image comics #1. Throw in Riley Rossmo and I am sold every time. The story also sounds awesome:In one night Rasputin was poisoned, beaten, stabbed, shot in the head, drowned, then tied up and thrown in a frozen river. It was really bad timing. His beard was just coming in nicely.
The Small Press Gem:
Godkiller #1– Low print run from small company. There are a lot of covers on this one, and besides the Phantom and Third Eye Variants, the one to look for is #1c, a Tim Seeley limited variant. Described as Saga meets Johnny The Homicidal Maniac, Godkiller: Walk Among Us is a twisted sci-horror adventure about a boy’s search for a new heart to save his dying sister in a post-nuclear wasteland populated by fallen gods, sex magic, and quantum physics technowizards
The Returning Favorite:
Saga #24– Just like The Walking Dead, Saga is a cultural phenom. The fan outpouring for this book at NYCC was crazy. Especially among fan girls. There is still a lot of life left in this book and is a must pick up.
The Outside Chance:
Dark Gods #1– This one is a tough one. I love Justin Jordan’s work. This is his new horror series. Multiple covers and potentials for reprints not being labeled as such could chase people off.
The Best October Book you probably aren’t reading:
Cutter #4– I love Halloween, and love scary stories. This book reads like a Japanese horror film. It is dark, has a great mystery, and brutal.
That is it for us this week, let us know what you are spec-ing on.
