CHU Best of 2014

Well that is it, wrap it up, 2015 is in the can. All sites are doing their best of lists and here is mine:
And the 2014 Chu-ies go to
Best Small Print Run Series for 2014:
Enormous– I have been all over this book since the beginning when it was first brought to my attention. Love it and still see big things on the way for it. Tim Daniel tells a mean giant monster story and Mehdi Cheggour’s Art is top notch.
Best Mid-Size Print Run Series for 2014:
Spread– Again, I have been all over this one since the beginning. In fact, back to NYCC 2013 when the Convention Teaser came out. Love it. Great story and art.
Best Big Print Run Series for 2014:
Wytches– love this series. (All my top picks have been horror related). Scott Snyder hit it out of the park with this one. Creepy and works on an emotional level. Jock’s art complements the atmosphere of the story nicely.
Best Mini-Series you didn’t read:
The Last Broadcast– I will be honest, I picked up issues 1&2 and read them when they came out and thought it was awesome. Then bought 3&4 and they got lost in my read pile. When I found them I went back and re-read the 4 issues and ran out to get 5-7. It is really that good. Magicians, secret societies, mystery, mind control, urban exploration, seriously a great read.
Best new variant company:
Comic Xposure– Their Enormous NYCC variants were the talk of the Internet. As were their Amazing Spider-man #9 variants. With Star Wars and many others coming out, plus an easy to use website, they have become this years best new variant source.
Comic of the year:
Wytches #1 New York Comic Con Variant– this was crazy hard to track down. Sold out each day before the doors opened. Shot up to $200+ by the weekend of release. For spec purposes this was the best their was.
Chu reader of the year:
Agent Poyo: with 1541 comments made this year, Agent Poyo may have spent more time on the site than at work. (Runners up were Random Person, Shima, and Kelly H. Combined they still didn’t equal the number of Poyo’s comments) if Poyo ever goes missing, I may notice before his family does.

  1. Haha.. that’s because I work in front of a computer for my job, so I usually have CHU always loaded and sitting on one of my browser tabs. 🙂

  2. HA!!!!! Been enjoying your site for a couple months…(thanks for Spiderverse #2. I have always thought Poyo worked for the site. Give that guy a paycheck!

      1. Well, my hourly rate is crazy high so… I don’t think Anthony can afford me. He’s just gonna have to skip me and continue getting my crazy comments for free. 🙂

  3. Agent Poyo is the man! and he reads a ton too…I mean do you see his pull list every week? it could be someone’s monthy pull list! I tend to get caught up in the Google + stuff, btw thank you Tony for introducing me to that community.
