According to Variety and comicbookmovie.com, Scarlett Johansson is set to play the lead character in the adaption of the anime and manga Ghost in the Shell.
Former Marvel-ite Adi Arad is set to produce.
Dark Horse Comics released a few mini-series, which were the first “American” comic book appearances of the characters. Ghost in the Shell was once dollar bin fodder but prices are up on eBay for some of the books. There was also a Wizard magazine Ghost in the Shell Ashcan
that predated the series, which would be the first true “American” version.
