Doing my due diligence on the recall of Bee and Puppycat 7 I emailed boom directly to find out what the error was. Here is what I got back.
Hi Anthony,
Thanks for the email There was a printing error that caused the book to be delayed. The new on sale date is 1/28 if there are any further questions please don’t hesitate to let me know.
Best,
Devin Funches
So, that doesn’t tell us much, but does confirm the books were ordered pulled and destroyed as previously stated. Why, a printing error. Not sure what it was but have been sent some good guesses. Will have to compare the recalled version and the new one.
One local shop still had theirs out for sale. Hmm….
My LCS had one regular and one variant out last Wednesday, so I bought them both. He is normally a stickler for the rules, so if he knew he was supposed to return them, he would have. My guess is he just had not read his email or however they notified them to return them. I didn’t see any obvious reasons for the recall.
It may have been as simple as incomplete art
I know right. My comic shop is very good on not selling recalled comic books as I wasn’t able to get the Rai mask variant from them. And I went in and bought the bee and puppycat like nothing. I wounder if it was all just a way to get people to buy the book and increase there sells lol
Didn’t seem like it worked at the one shop I picked mine up.. seemed as if the only ones missing were the two I picked up the previous week. 😉
Your probably right. Maybe it was just a miss comunication on the shipping date and not all got sent at once. But I do hope that they were recalled for a reason
I dont think ot was a miscommunication. They did say printing error
If it was just a shipping date error, they’d likely tell the stores to hold them then until the release date, not destroy the copies. That’d be a waste.
No. Not a shipping date error. He definitely said printer error. Just need to pinpoint what it is.

Yeah, it’d be silly to have shops destroy something over a ship date error.. destroy means something goofed on comic for sure.
I’ll pick another #7 to compare when the new ones arrive, I’m curious myself.
Someone sent me some pictures of interior art that may not have been complete. Not sure if that was it. Eyes were just vertical lines.

I see what your saying. On the second or 3rd page (I don’t have it in front of me), one of the characters just has lines on the face.. very weird.
I’m a retailer and I pay attention to these things. I’ve not received an email from Diamond (like I did with Rai #2) nor have I heard from Boom. This is the only place I’ve read about it, so I’ve got about four left for sale on the rack. Looking forward to more clarification.
Maybe you’ll get more to put out on the shelf come this 28th.. 🙂
Tread lightly. It unknown if CGC will recognize this as a recall taking away from a sales market.
I don’t ever see a huge demand for BEE AND PUPPYCAT error or non-error
It has its following.
Man that’s one heck of a rock you’re living under. JK 🙂 Selling number one first prints for $25 per was rather easy. Its gaining momentum
So… the reissued Bee and Puppycat #7s are out and the new covers say 2015, instead of 2014 like the first printing. I bought a copy and the inside pages/stories are completely different than the one that came out in 2014. My first guess, and it’s only an intuitive guess, would be that when printing the first batch the pages of a future issue were printed with the wrong cover. Kind of like a sweet soft taco filled with mysterious meat (but from the future!).
I have pictures that I need to post of them. But the first pages are different too.
