Wednesday Open Forum

Ok, let’s hear it. Were your local stores hit by the delay we reported?
What were your pick ups and drops this week? What book did you see cleared off the shelves and what books were just sitting there in piles?
OR talk about anything you choose.
Also, still no word from the Zombie Tramp winner. Will be going back and drawing another name.

  1. All the Austin stores apparently will be delayed today, most seem to be confident they’ll have books ready and out later in the day.
    My definite pickups are:
    Detective Comics #38
    Wolf Moon #2
    Birthright #4
    Fade Out #4
    God Hates Astronauts #5
    Humans #3
    Nailbiter #9
    Trees #8
    ASM #12
    Angela Asgards #2
    Ant-Man #1
    Star Lord #7
    Punisher #14
    Men of Wrath #4
    Brainstorm #5

    1. I dislike when there are delays, they throw my whole Wednesday off since I usually swing by the stores before heading to work. It’s a hassle later or after work, traffic sucks around those areas more.

  2. I’m picking up:
    Lady Killer
    Humans
    Men of Wrath
    The Fade Out.
This is a really good week for me. I love the Fade Out and Men of Wrath. Lady Killer is my most anticipated new title. I can’t wait to get off of work tonight!

        1. I use to try to keep up with future releases but that was too tedious, they changed all the time, etc.
Now I just load up Midtown around noon-1pm every Wednesday and they usually have the next weeks releases listed to buy. I go off this list, it’s almost always 100% accurate of what’s coming out the next week. Then I create my pull list from it.
Never.. I mean… NEVER go to Images website and use their release dates for their comics there. The only comic listed that’s usually accurate on it’s intended release date is Walking Dead.

      1. I use comixology’s pull list website and their app. It is usually accurate for that week and next. The app is ugly (IOS) and hasn’t been updated in years but it still works for letting me know what books will be there that week. I’d much rather know what’s releasing during the whole month but I haven’t found a reliable way to do that.

  3. Amazing Spider-Man #12 – cartoon cover who can resist Peter Porker?
    Ant-Man #1 Shrinking
    Ant-Man #1
    Birthright #4
    Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: 1952 #2
Humans #3 (make or break issue for me)
    Punisher #14
    Trees #8
    The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #1
Scrounging I also picked up Donatello: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle (one shot), Prophet #22, Southern Bastards #1, Spread #1, Moon Knight #2, #8, #9. I have to catch up on Moon Knight so picking up issues where I can. Also got the full Pacific Elric series (#1-#6) which I am looking forward to reading.

    1. Oh, forgot to mention… The Ant-Man shrinking covers with the smaller Ant-Man seemed to be more popular than the bigger Ant-Man.

      1. I ended up getting a copy with the smallest Ant-Man and the biggest. How much was everyone’s shops selling them for?

  4. I am shocked Poyo doesn’t have a pull box at an LCS…my LCS uses comixology, so its very easy to change up what I want to pull, although if I don’t order it early enough they might not have a copy of it for me that day. I also get a 10% discount.
My only spec book is Squirrel Girl #1 Adams 1:25 variant.

    1. I do have a pull list at one local shop, but they don’t always order if I add. All the local shops are in the stone ages when it comes to maintaining pull lists. If I ever get any extra time, I might offer my computer skills to my usual shop to get their stuff to be awesome.. 🙂

        1. My pulls are at Capstone (it was the closest one to my house, even after they moved to a new location).
I try to get covers and anything Capstone missed out on at Dragon’s Lair (about a half mile down the road from Capstone).
I do like Austin Books, very good, big selection (if no one else has it, they likely got it) but it’s a little more hassle to get to. I do get my comic supplies there though most of the time. They carry the best mylar and full back boards at the best price. I was gonna order the stuff online but with shipping, Austin Books still lower. They seem to price their variants a little high though.

  5. No delay in Central IL. I picked up the Ody-C floor variant, Trees, The Woods and Roche Limit (wasn’t going to, but it was on my stack…)… trying to cut back – didn’t get God Hates Astronauts, Birthright (I figured I could pick them up later if need-be) or Epochalypse. Looking forward to Zombie Tramp drawing #2! 🙂

  6. Hello everyone! Been on a long and awesome vacation, but I’M BACK! I’ve picked up some good issues on the bay recently. EOSV set of first prints for 44 buy it now. I splurged on an Infinity War #1 CGC SS 9.8 for $137. I think I may have over payed slightly, but once infinity war trailer hits to the masses I think it will go up. Unless, that is, Tony and Poyo shatter this dream now. This week I’m getting:
    Humans #3
Amazing Spiderman 12 and the 1:25 variant
    God Hates Astronauts (SO HILARIOUS)
    Nailbiter
    Birthright
    Ant-Man #1 shrinking and reg
I think I’ll try to find some more Xmen 221s in near mint condition for cheap too. Mr.Sinister would be amazing on screen and he’s my favorite villain. I’m curious if one of my copies is a 9.9 or GEM if I got it graded.I need to send in to CGC. GOOD TO BE BACK!!
