People are starting to speculate that she is:
Shuri, Black Panther’s sister, and one time Black Panther herself. Talks are that Age of Ultron could very much influence the Black Panther Movie. If that is said, the Shuri could very well be in the movie too. If that is so, her eaarly appearances could pop up. Now there will be debate on this one. She first appeared in Marvel Mangaverse #3, but this was an alternate universe. Marvel Mangaverse #3

Her first Marvel Universe (proper) appearance is in Black Panther #2 (2005). Also can be found cheap at Mycomicshop.
She really takes center stage in Black Panther (2009). She appears on covers and is even drawn by J. Scott Campbell on the second issue. Again, this is a cheap play at $4 and under.

Apparently, the MARVEL MANGAVERSE (2002) 1st appearance is of T’Challa’s younger sister “T’Channa” (a character similar to his actual sister Shuri). Like you said, an alternate history version, hence the debate. And who knows what the movie version might be?
