Sleepwalker Spec and Fantastic Four 642

This should be on your radar. It sheds more light on the copies of Sleepwalker #1 disappearing in droves off eBay. In fact, 47 copies sold last night.
FANTASTIC FOUR 642 out today could be a HUGE hype book…. Spoilers ahead.
It is now sold out. Someone went on to diamond and bought out the remaining copies of FANTASTIC FOUR 642.
Sleepwalker is at the end, lots of very SECRET WARSY-stuff, and Fantastic Four #643 is solicited as being “internet-breaking”.
No one knows it, but Marvel’s BIGGEST event in the last 5 years begins in their lowest selling book today. Fantastic Four may be ending but they are taking the Marvel U. down with it. Also, keep an eye out for Frankin Richards, he could be key to a lot of this.
So there is the Sleepwalker connection. And also, why Sleepwalker #1 is being bought up.

  1. I visited 3 of my local shops this morning. FF #642 all seemed to be under ordered as well. Cover B (The Sexy Cover that Hoknes mentioned) was a little harder to come by and Austin Books didn’t even have any of these, only around 10 or so copies of the regular cover, which surprised me.

    1. I was trying to nab more copies off Midtown of FF#642 Cover B and they are all out while I was checking out. This is definitely the sleeper this week.

    1. It’s focusing on the individual characters one issue at a time though. Thing isn’t very popular (well, in my opinion) so it seems these are still available at most online retailers, the other covers are all gone for the most part it seems. I hope people nabbed what they could.

        1. Yeah, I’m not big on Fantastic Four nowadays but this end storyline sparked an interest. I just pre-ordered #643 all covers since it’s going to have more Sleepwalker story within it.

  2. I’m super excited to see what my Sleepwalker #1 does on eBay. I bought it for 75 cents a few weeks ago, just on a whim. It’s got 4 bids already a bit over a buck now. I may just grab a ton of random #1 issues in the dollar bin for the heck of it. I’ll let you know what I find in the open forum thread 😉

      1. A much better leader would be Ruby Thursday.. Who could resist a hot body with that red head one could sever off.. 😉

  3. Went to Hastings after reading this around 9pm local time and was able to grab two copies each of covers A & B. Thanks for the tip or I would’ve never known.
Also found somebody’s stash looking for Sleepwalker. Was able to get another Captain Marvel #1 (2012) for $1.99 and a copy of the Copperhead Hastings variant for cover. Pretty good night!

      1. I’ve personally never had any luck with Hastings. Every time I order comics from them they’ve had some kind of damage to them.

      2. Calpounder seems to have one in his area, so no shipping necessary.
As for stuff getting damaged from Hastings, people don’t realize to them, these are not collectibles, they’re just like magazines and periodicals for people to read. They make less money spending more to protect during shipment and either way, they’re not a specialty comic shop that follows trends, they set a retail price and sell it at that price no matter. It sucks but that’s reality, you can’t expect everyone to treat these as precious items. 🙁

  4. Agentpoyo is correct. I have two Hastings local to me and I cringe every time I get to the checkout. On one occasion the cashier dropped one of the books down on the floor and all he said was “I hope you’re not a collector”. I grabbed a different copy but their employees most likely aren’t comic collectors.
I’ve read many stories about their shipping methods but I fortunately don’t have that problem. I love their store though. Lots of cool things in there but the video games easily dominate any other section at my local store.

    1. Dragon’s Lair here in Austin (which is a Fantasy Game shop along with comics/graphic novels) has some cashiers where you sort of cringe on how they handle the comics. Not everyone is a collector or as anal as we are about the condition of the product. To a lot of people, it’s just reading material.
