  1. Anyone think enormous is going overboard with the variants? I remember the first few were in demand since there were so few, but now there’s quite a few! I fear they may be relying on the hardcore crowd to buy multiple copies of one issue to increase numbers

    1. Lol. As I put out two variants for it last month. People are approaching them because it is a hot book. So far, and even with the variants, the print runs have not cracked 10,000 copies that I am aware of. Now that I have done the two variants, yes I would say that it might be a little much.

      1. It’s not as bad as some others though. How many variants were there for Star Wars? Dynamite is pretty horrid about the amount of variants for one comic as well. I think that’s the goal of having any type of variant, suckering us comic addicts into buying the same copy multiple times. It’s good marketing.
What I don’t like is what Avatar seems to do though by releasing another #1 limited to 1500 copies with a new cover months after the first issue was released.
I don’t consider Enormous variants terrible yet, since their overall print runs are still super low.

        1. Seriously I was joking. I do not think there are too many. I have been big on the Wytches variants and have gotten everyone up until issue 4. New popular book that is appealing to both the reader market and the collector market. You don’t have to get one of each (but I have been too). Wytches, Enormous, and Spread have been the books I have been getting every copy of.

    1. Except for the fact they are about 1:100 lower ratio of the 90s and more consumers equaling higher demand than in the 90s. Yes though I agree it does stink sometimes.
But the world is deluged with fiat money and comic books is one of the places it goes.

    1. A nice copy of Spiderman #300?? Or take that and get Nova#1, Marvel Premiere #1(1st Warlock), and Avengers #112??..and trow in a Wolverines #3 variant cuz sadly, i missed that one.

    2. I’d try to find a really great copy of Saga. I can only see this going up as more time passes and more readers jump on board. It might top out after the series ends but BKV is always known to make his runs last 50-60 issues so if that’s the plan, we still got a ways to go before it does end.

      1. You could also buy the first 9.8 graded copy of Enormous #6 Comicsheatingup.net black and white variant. Graded by CBCS. I know it is the first graded copy because it was sent to them the day before orders started going out.

  2. My definite pulls for today are:
    FBP #18
    Five Ghosts #15
    Ghosted #17
    Southern Bastards #7
    Walking Dead #137
    ASM #14
    Darth Vader #1
    GOTG #24
    Spider-Woman #4
    Thor #5
    Deep State #4
    Divinity #1

  3. I’d love to hear if anyone stumbles on the Frozen comic book today in the shops.
Also Tony suggested some excellent books to invest in. My long term favorites are Batman Adventures 12 in that range or a very clean copy of Star Wars #1 from 1977 and have either one graded. Both books look to be approaching the $2000 range in 9.8 as they are both selling for around $1500 and they will only be going up as the movies approach as fan base builds and they get placed in collections.

    1. I grabbed a Frozen. There was about 6 of them total. Another shop had zero. Didn’t have time to check another store. About 3 of them in were not so great of shape either.

      1. I love the back of the book. It says it’s for ages 8-12.. I guess only the 9 year old is allowed to read it. 😉

        1. Also one must consider.. I’ve seen the movie already, why would I buy a comic that is a exact copy of the movie but shortened a bit that I can just watch.. 😉

    2. Grabbed two copies…but if does not go above $10 on ebay I will most likely give them to my daughters.

      1. Had 2 copies of Frozen in my hands and put them back on the shelf. Memories of “Figment can’t miss” BS flashed through my head. For the same money I got an Iron Man 54 instead. Some shops just don’t know

    3. I got a frozen from 2 different shops – had to ask for it ahead of time though or it would have been long gone

  4. The Star Wars #2 sketch variant with Vader on the cover looks pretty cool. Hoping to get a copy soon.

  5. Darth Vader #1 (Campbell Connecting Variant) was on my pull list @ my LCS. They had it up on Monday for $7.99 so I added it to my check list. I checked last night and they took it out of my list and raised the price to $50. I had no other covers pulled ; ( let’s see what happens when I go in.

    1. Wow, that is really sad. Hope they make it right for you. If not, I would take my business elsewhere.

    2. Probably an overlooked mistake that was corrected later. At least they took it out of your list so you weren’t surprised at check out time if you hadn’t gone back to check.

  6. Haven’t been out to the lcs today as I’m at work but managed to order two copies of Frozen online. One for my daughter (it will be destroyed as she’s only 3.5) and then a backup.

    1. Nice. I grabbed two as well. My four year old son loves frozen (for the snowman of course) but doesn’t want his friends to know. It is a good movie. And scary to some little ones too. There is a “Frozen as a horror movie trailer” that points this out well.

  7. Let’s see. Today I picked up:
    All-New X-Men #36
    Amazing Spider-Man 14 (Regular and a Del’Otto variant)
    Captain Marvel #12
Darth Vader #1 (Regular and Action Fig variant)
    Deep State #4
Green Lantern Corps #39 (Harley Quinn cover)
    Guardians 3000 #5
    Guardians of the Galaxy #24
Harley Quinn Valentine’s Day Special (Both regular covers because I’m a sucker)
    New Suicide Squad #7
    Nightcrawler #11
    Southern Bastards #7
    Spider-Woman #4
    Thor #5
    Wolverines #6
    X-Men 24
I can report that I did not see Frozen at the two stores I went to.

  8. Picked up:
    Empty 1
    Darth Vader 1
Star Wars 2 (shop had another shipment come in)
Five Ghosts 15 (one of my fav current books)
    Walking Dead 137
Also grabbed 2 copies of Hitman 18 for $3 apiece. Both issues are scored from the bottom right side, just above the Section Eight completely across to just above Direct Sales on the bar code. Is this something consistent with most of these issues?

      1. Yeah, I only pick up X-O Manowar but this one did look interesting and I love how the cover stock matches what 2000AD uses, they should do that more often for the covers instead of the really thin paper most of their books use.

  9. My picks of the week;
Harley quinn valentines day special #1 ( for the wife)
    Mortal kombat x #2
New suicide squad #7 ( for the wife)
    ASM#14
    Darth Vader #1
    Spider-woman #4 (for the wife)
    Thanos vs Hulk #3
    Deep state #4
I dropped crossed+100. Reason being is on issue #2 there is a scene where they are violating a baby girl with a stick. So due to that, I am no longer buying Avatar press. And got couple of my LCS to drop the crossed+100 book. Thanks LCS.

    1. I’m all for freedom of speech but I agree, there are somethings you just don’t depict, draw, talk about, etc.

    2. All of the over the top disgusting things that go on in Crossed, and plenty of Avatar books as well, I dropped their stuff long ago. On the flipside, what Madder Red did in Bedlam, that was just funny

    3. Didn’t see what you referenced, but I thought even drawings of this type are considered child pornography under US law.

  10. Darth Vader #1 (regular and del Mundo variant )
    Thor #5
    Thanos vs Hulk #3
    ASM #14
    Wolverines #6
At the end of Wolverines 5, it says next issue All New Xmen. Are they taking the series into both books?

  11. Thank you kelly and D19113. Hope other readers can see what I see and talk to there LCS and get these books off there shelves. Thanks again

  12. Jumping in this thread late, but out here in Hawaii my LCS had about 6 copies of Frozen. I passed.

    1. nice, I grew up on the Big Island. What’s your go to LCS? I cant imagine there are a lot of comic stores, depending on which island you live on. I used to frequent Jelly’s on our family trips to oahu…those were the best kid memories! and scoring a defenders run of #1-60 at the flea market outside the stadium.

      1. I live on Oahu. I go to Gecko’s because they are close to where I live. There’s another store called Collector Maniacs right down the street from them. You’d be surprised to know that Gecko’s no longer orders new comics – they only sell back issues! I should check out the flea market – it’s been many years since I went!

  13. walking dead, southern bastards, and Five Ghosts
Spec’d on Darth Vader #1 Ross variant x2
    Hulk #324
and my books from the Scott Snyder signing are in the mail back from CBCS!!!! woohoo, thanks again Tony! For all of you that haven’t participated in a signing by Tony, you are missing out. first class service and very reliable, I would trust that guy with any book I owned…

  14. Bought me Star Wars #2. I’m a sucker for AT-AT’s lol. Also picked up a copy of Rat Gods #1. Came out last week but my LCS still had copies. Can’t pass up on Corben art. No Sir!

      1. Me too!! I am a huge fan of his work as I am sure others on here as well. I have tons of those Warren mags including all published work through Catalan and many of his indergroumd publications. Awesome stuff!!!
