Are The Whisperers coming to the Walking Dead Tv show?

So I mentioned in the last post, the Sunday Walking Dead recap spec article that there is a crazy theory as to who the next Big Bad will be. Negan seems like the obvious answer, making an appearance on the last show of the season as some had hoped. But since the TV show does not follow the follow the timeline of the comic, anything is possible.
The Whisperers are a group of people that travel with zombies dressed as zombies, including wearing zombie faces. The story is just now unfolding in the book, but they first appeared in Walking Dead #130.
So here is the theory. First, last episode 5 01, there were zombies chopped up in a truck with “W” carved in their face. There was some graffiti in the town that mentioned “Wolves” so unsure if this is the group that did this. But it goes deeper than this.
From Movieplot.com:

First, we have to take a trip back to Season 3, to the episode called ‘Clear.’ It saw Rick, Carl and Michonne go on a supply run and encounter Morgan, who had seemingly lost his mind.
During a confrontation with Rick – and since Morgan was in full-on crazy mode – Rick shouted at him, “Do you see who I am?”
Morgan’s response:
People wearing dead people’s faces!

Latino Post also picked up on this, as have a couple of other sites.
Kirkman has said it will be a while before we see Negan. And in the trailer for episode 05 11 we see our favorite group of surviviors being chased by big groups of zombies, and cast members talking about “them catching up to us” and “finding us.”

  1. The Whisperers are a tuff 1st appearence, in TWD 130, they are whispering off-panel, we can’t really see them,1st app/cameo? In TWD 132, we finally get to see them and their leader with the shotgun (cameo) also note lootcrate variant. He makes a 2 page appearence in issue 133. TWD 134 is Lydia’s 1st app. Any thoughts?

    1. I’d say cameo in 130, since we know about them.
As for Lydia, well, if she becomes major ongoing character, 134 could be a nice spec issue. I mean, she apparently took something from Carl that is usually held dear by most.. 😉

      1. We don’t quit yet know the extent of how far they actually went, maybe once he has his pants down she’ll make her escape…

      2. Oh Lydia is going to be trouble, I suspect. Remember, she knows ‘how to take care of herself…’. Plus, the seduction of Carl will be an important asset to her I believe.

        1. Yeah, I think she’s there to stir trouble no doubt and she found a gullible stupid boy to take advantage of. She just got caught and her loyalty is likely still with her own people.

  2. I found WD #67 in NM for $35, #69 for $25 NM, 100 Mc Farlene variant for $30 also NM. As well as couple of 130’s-132 at cover. Any thought if I should get the early issues?

  3. I’m seeing issues #67 and #68 easily go for $150 together. #69 I’ve seen go as high as $50. #69 is also first appearance of Heath (who I think plays a bigger role than Aaron and Eric later on in the storyline).
If you’re finding them in NM at those prices, that’s a bargain if you ask me. As of the McFarlane #100 for $30, I think that’s a little steep currently. Unless it’s slabbed, I can still find these for a little over cover at most shops.

  4. Pass on TWD 67, 68, 69 and go after Jesus in issue 91 or 92. He’ll have his own toy this year!

    1. Well, if you can find 67, 68 or 69 for $30 or less, definitely pick up to flip. As for Jesus in 91 and 92, that’s a definite. Talk about major character, once he’s on the show, that one is more money for sure.
