That’s right, comic properties are being optioned now months before release. It helps in this case that the book will be created and written by TV creator Eric Kripke (Supernatural).

“Supernatural” creator Eric Kripke will write a new comic book miniseries for DC Entertainment’s Vertigo imprint, as well as develop a TV series adaptation of the property for USA Network, Variety has learned exclusively.
“Amped,” a six-issue monthly comic book miniseries, will debut in fall 2015. The story follows Josh Jaffe, a neurotic family man who buys an online ‘smart pill’ to increase his focus and jolt him out of his slump, but gets much more than he bargained for. To his surprise, the pill gives him incredible strength and power. The story examines both the mighty highs and humiliating lows of being a real-life superhero.
“Eric has such a clever, irreverent cadence which makes him a natural writer for the Vertigo line,” Vertigo executive editor Shelly Bond said in a statement. “‘Amped’ promises to be as addictive as its title substance.”
“Pretty much everything I’ve ever written has been insanely influenced by Vertigo, so it’s a dream come true to write my first comic there,” said Kripke. “’Amped’ is a project I’m foaming-at-the-mouth passionate about — and it’s also the most personal, warts-and-all story I’ve ever told. So I’m having the time of my life writing the comic — and basing the TV series off the comic, too. I can’t wait for readers to read it– and then down the road, for watchers to watch it.”
Created and written by Kripke, “Amped” will feature interior art from John Higgins (“Hellblazer,” “Before: Watchmen”) and cover art from Brian Bolland (“Batman: The Killing Joke,” “The Invisibles”).
At USA Network’s annual upfront presentation Tuesday, the network announced development on the TV adaptation of “Amped,” based on the characters created for the upcoming comic. Kripke will serve as executive producer and writer of “Amped,” from Kripke Enterprises in association with Warner Horizon Television.
The plot sounds good and the artist are good ones as well. I’ll defenetly get a copy of this book. Just hope they don’t make a lot of variants for it cuz that would suck.
limitless??
Totally sounds like Limitless the tv show. Except with the added strength and power angle. That or a bizarro version of Lucy.
Except this is more “brawn” than “brains”
Now that you metion it Mel it does sound like limitless but then again it also sounds like MPH with the super natural speed pill. I just hope they take it in a different direction and make it unique. I mean there is a lot of zombie comics and movies but nothing like Walking Dead. So I just hope it turns out to be a good read.
