Weekend Open Forum

The week is over finally, two days off work to cram in as many things as possible before the dreaded start of the work week all over. So let’s hear some good news.
What pick ups did you read and really enjoy. I was fond of Walking Dead 140 as Poyo had a published letter, but all because things are about to go down with Negan (again).
Also, it has been asked to get a list of the variants coming out each week. If someone wants to help and get a weekly list of variants to be on the look out for, it would be greatly helpful.

  1. Start grabbing issue 132 if you see it.. seems they’re starting to dry up online. Yeah, I was pretty stoked too seeing my letter after reading issue 140. 🙂
One exciting thing was that I picked up #18-25 of Manhattan Projects for 50 cents each (all in NM condition too) earlier this week and sold all 8 for $20 to kick off the weekend. Not bad, spent $4 to make some easy money.

      1. I grabbed the last copy of Old Wounds for you only to then see Midtown listed them again, that was exciting, wait.. no it wasn’t.. but it was a good excuse to go pick up Nameless #3 which I somehow missed on Wednesday. 😉

        1. I missed a ton this week. Huge week for me over three trips to the lcs. Did pick up 10 Deadpool Phantoms. I have been doing well with the phantoms as of late so see no reason it wouldn’t continue.

  2. Finally sold a copy of spider-gwen phantom and a silk phantom so that was nice. Not at the price that I wanted to sell them at but hey I atleast got some cash out of it. I got some copies of walking dead 132 at 50% off cover so I will wait a little longer till I sell them. Any suggestions on when to sell them?

    1. It’s a slow burn. Gotta sit on them a while to see what happens in the comic, how important she is and if/when she shows up on TV. I stuck over 50 copies away to just forget about. Also got most mine at 50% off.

      1. Yes, it’s a definitely a sit and wait gamble. We can only hope she and the whisperers end up on the show which only sweetens the deal.

  3. Batman Endgame Combo Packs:
35 started going nuts couple weeks ago, now 36-39 are catching up quick. Especially the Joker covers.
I found a 37 and 2 38s this week at 20% off cover. Already sold one of those 38s for 45.
I have 5 35s left, 2 36s, 6 37s, 6 38s, and 4 39s left and they’ve all been paid for plus like the 3 I found this week. Since they were basically free and I have no need to sell I’m going to sit on them a while. If they go up enough, I’ll sell em and get a high grade copy of FF 45! ?

    1. which one is the one with the red joker face ..I got a couple combo packs uperman 38 and the red jpker face one and endgame pt 1

      1. 37 is the red Joker and one of my fav covers, soooo much better in red. 38 is the shadow Joker and 39 is the throne of bodies Joker.

  4. I have 3 letters in the Walking Dead and broke the story about Capes #1 preview. Welcome to the fraternity.

whats a good price to flip 1 variant guys

  6. Daredevil: Season 1 was soooo awesome! It’s dark and very violent, and well…lawyers being lawyers.
    Anyone else watch ?

  7. burning them to disk as we speak ..so tonight is a bottle of henny and daredevil
Run The Jewels sets sold very well for me this weekend.on the hunt for more walking dead 132’s

    1. It’s up there as one of my favorite new comics as well. The other one that tops the list is Dying and the Dead, just really good stuff. I think I might like Hickman’s Dying Dead better than East of West.

      1. Dying and the dead has been really good. I loved the “feel” of the last issue. Really started feeling that Indiana Jones vibe. I didn’t get into East of West. I read the first issue and passed from there.

  8. Got my 4 color grails today and I was completely unimpressed. The Nijak had a top right bend/dent like it had been dropped on its corner and the top of the front cover was chewed up and chipped. The Dr Who had 2 rounded corners and the back cover was creased. The Descender and Spidy Gwen look to be 9.4+ tho. The box is completely worthless and a waste of resources and space , IMHO. I’m prolly gonna end up chucking mine.

    1. Oh shit. I’ve heard other similar complaints. It’s quite ironic that i just emailed them yesterday to ask the condition of their books. I got a reply stating the books come in NM+ condition.
      Doesn’t bode well for me…..
Just I’ll wait for my delivery.

    2. I got mine today as well but they are perfect. I’m still canceling my sub though as I only did it for Spider-Gwen!

  9. Had a chance to read Southern Cross #2 this morning.. sadly it’s going to get dropped. Just not enough to peak my interest to continue forking over money for.

  10. Just finished my Previews order for comics coming in June, it gets more expensive every month. I did see a G-n-R graphic novel that looks interesting, plus some Spider-Gwen variants.

  11. GI Joe Con is in town this weekend… picked up the variant with JEM on the cover for $10. They had some signed for $20. Also, the program has a GI Joe comic inside, which I thought was kinda cool.

      1. they’re probably more rare than the variant, which I believe he said had a print run of 1200 – I think he said that’s the smallest run they (IDW?) would do…

  12. I spent the weekend organizing all the various books I’ve purchased over the past few months (Re-bagging and boarding then filing them away.) I have 1 1/2 longboxes worth of stuff and still have the 1/2 box to go. I also put up a couple of things on eBay, see if I can draw any extra for the future hauls. When did collecting comic books become so much work?!

    1. LOL that is one of my favorite parts of collecting, the organization. I have small boxes all over the house. I have a corner of comics in the bedroom and tons of small boxes in my closet. (Then the comic room in the basement, and the ones in storage) One day I hope to have the whole collection together

      1. I now have 10 short boxes and 4 long boxes sitting in my office. The other 50 long boxes are in my garage, sitting on top of a platform I built to keep them up off the concrete in the event that water gets on the floor. When I think about doing any sort of organization with those, a little part of me dies inside. I REALLY need to get them into a database of some sort so I know exactly what I have. The task is so daunting, I haven’t even started on it.

        1. I gave up on doing a database. Was using comicbookrealm for a long time for tracking as well. I have pallets in the comic room in the basement to keep the comics off the floor in case of floods.
