Cap funeral scene being filmed for Captain America 3: Civil War?

Looks like there are rumors surfacing that a funeral scene is being filmed for Captain America 3: Civil War.
There is one pretty famous death that starts it all off.

From Comicbook.com Comicbook.com:

Production on Captain America: Civil War began last Friday, and set photos and rumors have already begun to spread from the Atlanta set.
The latest rumor, being reported by Heroic Headlines, suggests an unfortunate turn for someone involved in the film. The report suggests that a funeral scene will be shot on Tuesday, May 12. A casting call from Tammy Smith Casting for “Sputnik,” the film’s production title, confirms that the film is seeking “upscale men and women” in “dark” and “conservative” attire, befitting a funeral. The Tuesday forecast for Atlanta suggests it will be a cloudy, grey day. In other words, perfect funeral weather.
When talking of Civil War and funerals, fans familiar with the comics will likely first think of the funeral of Captain America. In the comics, Cap surrenders himself into S.H.I.E.L.D. custody and is murdered on the court house steps before his trial. This eventually leads to Bucky Barnes, the Winter Soldier, taking up the shield as the new Captain America in Steve Rogers’ place.

Captain America, of course, gets shot on the steps in CAPTAIN AMERICA #25. One to watch as prices are still pretty cheap.
The other notable death in the Civil War series is Goliath, aka Bill Foster who died in Civil War #4

  1. I’ll take a shot-in-the-dark and say Steve Rogers doesn’t die. The movie isn’t borrowing much from the Civil War story.

    1. Evans already said he’s taking a break from acting to direct, and his contract is running out. He has two movies left..Civil War and Infinity War Part 1. He will die in one of the two, with Winter Soldier taking over the mantle.

      1. Matt, excellent points. When I first put up that I thought they would do a Civil War movie, right when the first Winter Soldier trailer went up on Super Bowl years ago, I pointed that out. (He had more movies left in his contract at that time). Going to have to dig up that old post.

      2. I’m betting on this…this was what made me want to gamble on it, his contract is finishing. I remember watching an interview where he said something along the lines of not wanting the Captain America role to stick to him.

      3. If he dies in Cap 3 – Civil War, then he’ll likely be in flashbacks in Avengers 3 Infinity War or in Cap 4 if Bucky takes over. If he lives in Cap 3, he can either die in Avengers 4 or they just write it in that he’s done, part ways and he asks Bucky to take over.
It’s all a big speculation game for sure.. that’s the fun part, guessing what’s going to happen! 😉

  2. I doubt it’s a Cap funeral scene. It’s more than likely the funeral scene in Civil War 1 where children were killed due to the recklessness of a rogue group of wannabe super heros. it’s the catalyst that sets the countries debate on the registration act into overdrive.

    1. I think we have seen part of the catalyst as of Age of Ultron with Tony Stark and Cap not trusting each other and not seeing eye to eye on things. Yes. Like all powder legs something must light the fuse.

  3. I expect Bucky to really evolve as a character in this film. Considering the film contract that was signed by the actor and the break mentioned above by Evans it looks like Cap 34 is a nice one to speculate on.

    1. Agreed. His contract is very lengthy, which makes me think he takes over rather than Falcon. I bought a good many 34s a while back. Should pay off.
