Secret Wars August Box
Despite several past disappointments from Loot Crate and others, I remain a sucker for nerdy mystery boxes. Guess it’s the fun of getting that unknown box in the mail plus it’s fun to divvy up the goods with your kids. Marvel’s marketing focused on being “100% exclusive” and “no fluff”. I went all in with the Founder’s subscription of 6 boxes over 1 year which includes an exclusive bonus anniversary figure that Funko promises to be epic.
I think Marvel has backed up their claims. The Hulkbuster Pop from the Age of Ultron box is my favorite Pop! ever. I don’t feel there has been any fluff with maybe the exception of the patches. My only point of complaint so far is the comics ship with no protection and get beat up. That’s not right when you call it a “collector’s” box. This month’s theme is Secret Wars based on the massive Marvel Comics event.
Let’s take a look at what is in the box and see if they have responded on the comic book feedback:
The box itself prominently feature Thor.
First you see the Falcon patch and Iron Man pin. I don’t have much need for these, but the pin is pretty cool.
Shirts are routinely a disappointment of most mystery boxes. They are either lame, cheap, or sizing is way off. Marvel and Funko fixed that. The shirts fit nicely and have a quality feel. The design this month is a little on the “cute and whimsical” side for me, but it’s something I can wear and still nicer than most.
Would you look at that? A comic with a backing board! Still not quite NM, a little wear and tear on the corners, but much better condition than before. At least they are responding to feedback. It’s an exclusive variant of Secret Wars #1. Going on ebay for about $7.
Past boxes include one Pop! and some mini-figures, but this month you get two full size Pops. An Exclusive Lady Thor and Miles Morales Spider-man Pops. While one lucky seller took in $100 for both, they are steadily selling for $35 each on ebay. You can’t get these anywhere else, so the Collector Corps Funkos are holding their value. Again, Marvel backs up the marketing. Here you could pick your favorite of the two, and sell the other one to pay for your box.
As you can tell, I am satisfied with Marvel Collector Corps and don’t regret my subscription. I don’t see myself cancelling anytime in the future either. Marvel’s next box will ship in October and the theme will be revealed soon. https://www.collectorcorps.com/
Great shirt Tyson! After watching the video, I realize they left the exclusive sticker off my Thor. That’s BS marvel!! Lol
I’m loving these boxes!!! After this third box, I’m so glad I also paid for the Founders subscription, gonna be epic!!!
I had also paid for the Founders subscription. This Secret Wars box was awesome. We got not one, but two exclusive full-size Funko Pops! Well worth it!
So jealous!

My wife made fun of me for changing lol. I had a Batman shirt on and was like, “I can’t be doing a Marvel video wearing DC.” So she preceded to clown me more
That’s what us husbands are there for!
With all good reason. Lol.
I apologize for this being completely off topic, but does anyone know how many subscribers Marvel Collector’s Corp has? Currently a member of loot crate, but started thinking about just how many members they have and as a result the comic variants aren’t that rare at all. Loot crate claims over 100,000 subscribers. Read another person state there are close to 200,000 subscribers. So those variants they occasionally include could very well meet and/or exceed the regular print run release.
Loot crate gets up to 300,000 buyers of their crates with comics in them (Walking Dead for example) to figure out how many Marvel Collectors corp ones you may have to look at the print run numbers for that title in particular.
