An update on the charity auctions I ran to raise money for Larime Taylor’s wife Sylv came to around $90. So huge thanks to the bidders and buyers. Stay tuned, we’re hoping to have some awesome blank variant sketches done by Larime to raise more money, so we can save his wife.
So let’s get on with the picks of the week shall we.
The DC/Vertigo pick of the week:
Unfollow #1 – Dying media mogul leaves his billions to 140 random people. What could possibly go wrong?
The Marvel pick of the week:
Howard the Duck #1 – Only because Gwen-Pool has a back up story in it supposedly. Expect the crazies to seek this one out, create possible demand, etc.. If you can get your hands on the variant with Gwen Pool at a reasonable price, by all means, do not pass it up.
The Indie Pick of the Week:
ExMortis #1 (451 Media) – Bringing dead soliders back to life? Yes please..
The Bazillion Covers pick of the week:
James Bond #1 (Dynamite) – It’s got tons of covers. We’ll probably get even more a week later. What more can you expect from Dynamite? But if your a Bond fan, this is a must pick up.
The Everyone is Spec’ing on it and you need to sell fast before reality checks in pick of the week:
Niobe #1 (Stranger Comics) – It’s been mentioned already here on CHU (first at that), you probably already pre-ordered it. It’s already sold out online. So yeah, find it, flip it if you can. Pick up two to keep one if it’s a great read.

I’m one of those crazies picking up Gwenpool (if I can find it) my main shop called today and put a $79 price tag… Ouch I thought. If it doesn’t sell in a week, maybe they’ll lower it.
Sadly some schmuck will buy it at that inflated price.
Ouch! $79 IMO is waaaaaay too high. Wait until the heat cools off….
Yeah, Deadpool’s Secret Secret Wars #2 Gwen-Pool cover variant hit what, $40-$60 and now you can find them for $25. If you can’t find it tomorrow, I say wait, it’ll drop back down in price eventually.
Sold mine for $70 today.
I’m hoping the one shop I frequent that sets all variants out at cover has a copy cause yeah, it’s going directly to eBay to be sold. I can care less about Dead Gwen Stacy characters but I’ll flip’em if I can. 😉
Yeah of I can’t find the Gwenpool cover for under $25 I will pass. Been calling around for it since Monday and they want $50-80 for them. I did called another placed that had them for $10 but people had called him on Saturday to put them on there pulls so that sucked lol
Niobe is such and important book for breaking the barrier of diversity in comics.I’m seeing great Halloween costumes of young women of color dressing up as her,I told Sabastian at Baltimore comic con how powerful this book will be.I’m rooting for it to do great things
I haven’t read Niobe yet but I just read Monstress this morning, very very good book. The art was awesome as well but very well written me thinks. It’s now my “didn’t pick, pick of the week” for sure..
Meanwhile, I just love it for being Howard The Duck in his own Ongoing Series again, again. When I saw the former was ending at #5, I was ticked it was Over, so I’m glad it’s Not… and at least this Gwen-Pool thing will give it a boost to continue longer.
