Amandla Stenberg on MSNBC talking about Niobe, and social activism.

Niobe and co-creator Amandla Stenberg continues to get the word out on her new comic “Niobe, She is Life.” Media does seem to love her and she has been interviewed quite frequently on the book. Here is the latest interview from two days ago.

The book is doing well and sold out at the distributor level:
Niobe She is Life #1 is selling between $6 and $10

The 1:5 Variant is doing nicely at around $20.

The NJOY Comics Variantis selling for around $30.

And The Hoknes Variant is the big winner is the big winner at $75-$99.

Untamed #1 is still doing well at $18 for an unsigned regular and $35 for the unsigned variant.

The Convention Special is doing nicely at $30-$40.

We got a little heat from “haters” saying we were just pumping the book for fake hype. No one has supported this book for more of the right reasons than Mel and Myself. So do not buy into the negativity.

  1. As Taylor Swift says ‘Haters gonna hate, hate, hate…’ You just got to ‘shake it off!’ (Yes, I have a pre-teen daughter). Good job on the spec guys. I’m not sure what I was doing, but I missed out on this one.

        1. The only thing I know about Taylor Swift is, she can fart and receive a Grammy or another type of award for doing so.

        2. Yeah, and she’s a cute blonde and we’re old creepy guys for likely looking at her for all the wrong reasons. 😉

  2. I tried to like the book. I like the story behind it (as it’s promising) but the dialogue and narrative just kind of ruined this book for me when I read it, just seemed a bit dry and lacking more substance. I kept getting the feeling as I was reading that it was in this flat monotone voice. The art was okay, wasn’t spectacular though, I just got the feeling it needed a little more details. I get the style but with this book, more details in the art would of made it better.

    1. Poyo, that is kind of the point now. Not everybody has to like the books but we want to get it out there anyway for those who might. I think the story is important because it can relate to others who are underrepresented in the comic character community

      1. Oh for sure, for me, didn’t do anything but for others it might be great. I’m not hating on the book, I hope it does well. I’m just giving back what I think is some constructive criticism.

Like I said, I really like the story concept, it just fell flat with the narrative and dialogue.

  3. Haven’t read the book yet but I did skimmed threw it and the art could be more detailed and it kinda reminded me of Avatar so that was one of the other reasons why I grabbed it.

  4. That’s the wonderful thing about new books wit new characters and worlds (outside of re-boots)! We get to see it grow…or sink. It can go in either direction as everything that has ever been released has. If it grows and becomes the next big thing we get to say we were there from the beginning. If it fails, well at least it was out there giving it the best shot possible!

  5. I’ve gotten burned on so many indie books from Black mask, 215, 451, 666 whatever. The flip hits are few and far between and after the initial week or 2 weeks of hype they die. Watson And Holmes anyone?

    1. I actually liked Watson and Holmes as in, reading it until about the 3rd or 4th issue, then it just started getting silly.

    2. The smaller indie comics do jump quickly and will die quickly as well. They’re initial low print runs make it hard for some to get initially that causes the demand to quickly spike, but then a large majority of them drop as fast as they spiked. With these, one must know to sell at just the right time and usually ahead of the rest if you can.

  6. that is why when flipping books. you must follow this song. know when to hold em. know when to fold em. know when to walk and know when to run. I wish I didn’t allow my personal belives to keep me from having a good flip. and has there ever been a comic besides the pro. that featured a superheroine in the wrolds oldest profession?????
