Each week, hundreds of new comics hit the shelves, each with potential, some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best show at heating up, here are our picks of the week for delivery 11/18/15:
The One with a Media Tie In
Huck #1– I know his books do not move up much on movie announcements, but the announcement came at or before final order cut off on the book so hopefully the print run will not be Mark Millar ego huge.
The Odd Marvel on the List
Ms. Marvel #1– Missed out on it the first time around, will not make the mistake again. Character is hugely popular.
The New Vertigo Pick of the Week
Red Thorn #1– Scottish mythology, an ancient demi-god planning a prison escape, I have a Fables meets Sandman feel for this book.
The Returning Favorite
Pretty Deadly #6– I love Emma Rios art and a non-Bitch Planet Kelly Sue Deconnick writing has been very enjoyable. Cannot wait for the new issue.
Small Press Gem
Wes Craven’s Coming of Rage #2– Liked the first one enough to continue. Small print run and the variant covers have been in demand.
and…
Project Nemesis #2– Take a teenage girl and splice her with Kaiju DNA, what could go wrong? Seriously though, good book with a great start. I am loving everything coming out of the Famous Monsters of Filmland Banner.
The Pick of the Week
Tomboy #1– Mel had this on the Big Gems from Small Press a while back and it looks good. Fans of Wayward will dig this one. A female teenaged hockey player who kills murderers. Action Lab does not do big print runs so this one should come in under 6,000 copies I’d speculate.
Also look for the I Hate Fairyland #1 CBLDF variant in shops this week.
That is it for us this week, let us know what you are specing on
Hero Hourly ..looks like a fun read…check it out as well
“Ms. Marvel #1– Missed out on it the first time around, will not make the mistake again. Character is hugely popular.”
I’ll sell you my Ms. Marvel #1, the last volume #1 issue that is.. 😛
