  1. My pickups are:

Batman β€˜66 #29 – Great series, great read.
Godzilla in Hell #5 – Awesome, Godzilla fan for life.
Beauty #4 – Great read so far, I’m hooked.
Rat Queens #13 – I’m kind of torn up on this title, use to be my favorite but ever since Roc left due to unforeseen issues, just hasn’t been the same, even the story seems lacking some.
Tokyo Ghost #3 – Great read so far.
Ant-Man #2 – Haven’t read #1 yet but the art and style seems to go along with the last Hawkeye series.
Black Knight #1 – Gotta check out, enjoyed WeirdWorld
Captain America #3 – Love Captain America.
Mighty Thor #1 – The last volume was good, it’s Aaron writing it again.
Vader Down #1 – I love Darth Vader.
    Star Wars #12 – Duh!
    Uncanny InHumans #2 – I hope it’s good, haven’t had a chance to read #1.
Bloodshot Reborn #8 – Been enjoying it so far.
Wrath of the Eternal Warrior #1 – Must check out, Valiant has been doing a great job on most of their titles.
Six #1 – It’s a pick of the week and I’ve enjoyed most of these new 451 Media titles so far.

  2. I posted this earlier but Books A Million had copies of Six #1 out this past Sunday along with all the rest of 451 #1’s

  3. Don’t know if anyone brought this up anywhere else but do you think the blonde guy who robs Daryl could be Dwight. It seems like whatever group he’s in, he’s not satisfied, he’s got a crossbow now, and maybe when he returns to his camp, Negan burns his face with an iron ( all reminiscent of Dwight). If anything maybe this makes for some stimulating conversation/ speculation.

    1. Great points. I am kind of thinking the voice that asks for help over the walkie talkie is the blonde guys. We don’t know what group he is a part of and if he is a part but we do know Negan is coming.

      1. I could be wrong but I don’t think they took his bag too which means they shouldn’t have daryl’s walkie to respond “help”
My far fetched theory.. It’s somehow Glenn, and now Abraham has a RPG to create a distraction and save him…

  4. This week’s picks. Still letting to trim the fat but it’s not so easy.

    Deadpool
    Doomed
    Earth 2
    I hate fairyland
    Invincible
    Star wars/green lantern
    Star wars
    The mighty thor
    Uncanny avengers
    Uncanny inhumans

  5. I was quite taken by the pretty red head who died, amazing she had such a sharp haircut after so long living in the woods !

    1. Remember, she was part of a larger group where there’s likely people just like at Rick’s camp who can cut hair.. just sayin! πŸ™‚

But I knew right when she was going to kneel that she was a goner.. fire don’t kill zombies that are wrapped up like mummies!

    1. Outside Alexandria, with all the zombie foot traffic.. it keeps the grass nicely trimmed.. only explanation for short grass in some scenes. πŸ˜‰

  6. Just 3 books for me….

The Beauty #4: Jumped on it late but acquired the back issues and loving it.
Clean Room #2: I wasn’t completely sold after the first issue, this will decide if I pull it.
Deadpool #2: My first jump into superhero comics. I loved the trailer and decided to try it.

Anyone still reading the Black Hood? I hated the art in the last book. Thankfully it was just a guest artist. I thought it was so brutally bad that I was going to drop the series if that was the new direction they were going.

    1. I still read Black Hood. I don’t think it was the art per se that was bad but the inking and coloring. Howard Chaykin has a distinct art style but it looked muddy in the last issue. But then again his art is not for everyone. The story in the last issue was very weak though and felt like a chunk of the story was missing.

      1. Some of the faces were so ugly and especially the hands were brutal at times. I think the next issue is a Chaykin book also and then he’s done? I know what you mean about the story, it really felt like a throwaway or filler chapter and a quickly rushed one at that.

      2. The Chaykin issue of Black Hood was just a filler and was missing everything that makes the series great. Hopefully the next issue will have him back in Philly, I live in the Port Richmond neighborhood where much of the story takes place, Kensington is a very short walk and the portrayal in the book is not far off at all, in fact a bit too real.
The thing I love about the series is that none of the locations are made up. Ray’s Happy Birthday Bar is by the Italian Market, The Grey Lodge is in Mayfair (NE Philly), the 4 different cemeteries at the same intersection near the El station, the street where BH did his morning run is 3 blocks from my house and the warehouses in the background are exact. If you came here and went page by page, looked at the actual spots, you’d be really impressed.
I’ll be buying the series until the end

        1. The writer is from Philly and is a nice guy. I did an interview with him before the series came out and just never published it. He gives the artists photo reference and wants to keep the story as real world as possible.

      3. That’s cool Lonzilla. I’d love to see it sometime.

I think the next issue will continue the CA (with Chaykin) story line and then will revert back to the original style. I think that’s what I remember after I furiously searched if Chaykin was on the book permanently.

I’ve loved the writing on the black hood (with the exception of the last issue, which I assume there’s probably behind the scenes story on why it was thrown together like that. I know the original artist needed a break and that’s where Chaykin came in). I look forward to it getting back to it’s dark gritty roots.

      1. I don’t have a problem with Chaykin’s Art. I just think whomever colored and inked did a crappy job. It could have also been in the scanning of the art for printing which could have made the art look so terrible. Again, Chaykin’s art isn’t for everyone but I have never seen it look so bad.

        1. I haven’t thought his art was terrible before. Some of the faces and like I said, the hands, from this latest issue were really horrendous. Thankfully it’s a moot point going forward but I wouldn’t have stuck with the book if that was going to be the new norm.

  7. This week’s books;

Beauty #4 ( man is this book addicting. I like the story and the art is amazing. Didn’t know I was going to like it that much lol. A must read to all of you who haven’t read it yet)
    Coming of Rage #2 ( haven’t read #1 yet but I know I won’t be disappointed)
Harley Quinn #22 ( also the looney tunes variant for the wife)
I hate fairyland #2 ( first one had me laughing can’t wait for this one)
Savior #8 ( last issue was good. And this should end the first arc so I will see if it holds its true potential for me to keep it or drop it).
Project nemesis #2 ( first issue was good). Also did my store is not getting theirs till next week did anyone else had this problem?

      1. YES! The solicit didn’t hook me but after hearing how good it was I picked up the first 3 issues a few weeks ago. Completely worth the hype, it’s really that good. Is this a mini or officially an ongoing?

  8. This week’s pulls

    Archie Comics:

Jughead #2: I feel like this has all the Archie charm, without all the Archie high school drama of the “Archie” series. Zdarksy is really channeling Jughead well here.

    Image:

Tokyo Ghost #3: I’m pulling three Image titles: Autumnlands, Humans, and this. Remender is keeping me interested with this book. I love that he hasn’t rested on a plot line for too long.
    Marvel:

Astonishing Ant-Man #2: I want to see where #2 goes. I’m not too excited on them staying with the Darren Cross storyline, and I don’t think this whole “henchman for hire” idea has much meat on the bone. Still Nick Spencer did a great job with the last volume, so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt with a #2.

Black Knight #1: I want to find out which of the two Weirdworld titles will be better; Black Knight or Weirdworld. I don’t trust Humphries on Weirdworld. Then again, I’ve been surprised during ANAD. Bendis isn’t doing bad on Iron Man.

Secret Wars Too: Previews look hilarious. Love that Ryan Browne has a Wolverine/Cyclops story in there.

Star Wars #12: One of my automatic first reads of the week.

Vader Down #1: People are upset that there’s a Star Wars/Vader cross-over. If I weren’t already reading both, I could maybe see their point. As it stands, I’m excited for this.

    Uncanny Inhumans #2: We’ll see….

    Valiant:

Bloodshot Reborn #8: Poyo has me coming back to this all the time. This series was lagging until last issue. Hopefully the action picks up here.

Wrath of the Eternal Warrior #1: Valiant’s events have been brilliantly executed. The Valiant, Book of Death, and hopefully this event have been short, concise, and no fuss. Really good storytelling going on.

    1. Can’t say enough about how much I love Ryan Browne. Got a Goats Eats Castanets -1 from Scrimmage Comics (a retooled God Hates Astronauts #1 with completely new dialogue and self published) that he drew a Star Meowser (Star Grazer with a cats head, originally thought of having him do a chicken head) sent off to CBCS and grades 9.8. He also gave me a Blank Sketch cover he did a Amazing Fantasy 15 Homage with Star Grazer on the cover.

    2. I was only reading the main Star Wars title and I was upset at the forced crossover. I officially dropped Star Wars a couple of weeks ago. I wish they wouldn’t get greedy and would have left well enough alone.

  9. This weeks pickups:

    1. Ant Man #2 (Nick Spencer…see below)
    2. Captain America #3 (Nick Spencer is probably my favorite Marvel writer right now. And this book shows that he can be more than just funny, even though this book still has a lot of funny moments, I was so bored by the last Sam Wilson, Captain America volume. But Spencer has turned it into a must-read for me).
    3. Deadpool #2 (good. but nothing special though yet)
    4. Extraordinary X-men #2 (Jeff Lemire might my favorite comic writer, period, right now.Bloodshot, Descender….he can do no wrong).
    5. Uncanny Inhumans #2 (Charles Soule is amazing when writing in his comfort zone. Not sure if the Inhumans are his comfort zone. Can’t wait for his Daredevil series though).
    6. Bloodshot Reborn #8 (Jeff Lemire…see above)

Also gonna get the Batman and the Descender form last week, since my shop was shorted on the regular covers last week (I like to collect the regular covers of a series because it feels more complete. I’ll only go for the variants in exceptional circumstances (Spread action figure, Sex Criminals XXX, Southern Bastards Confederate flag).

Also been buying a lot of old 90’s comics because theyre really good and normally pretty cheap. Been picking up a lot of the comics from the Death of Superman storyline, Spawn, Power of Shazam, Infinity Gauntlet/War, L.E.G.I.O.N./Lobo, and the Marvel Evolutionary War crossover event. Just really fun (especially for someone who’s only been collecting comics for a few years now)

    1. and speaking of Infinity War, those comics are really starting to pickup on ebay. Infinity Gauntlet has been high for a while now, but Infinity War seems to be following the trend. I picked up the first 3 in that series for a dollar a piece a while back. I had to spend a little bit more than I wanted to for the last three. but its still good stuff.

  10. Picking up:
    Rachael Rising
    Giant Days
    Usagi (#150!)
    I Hate Fairyland
    Pretty Deadly
    Rat Queens
    Tokyo Ghost

    Dropped:
Wayward: my daughter decided to read Monstress instead due to her limited budget/allowance

    1. The only copy of the Harley Quinn Looney Toons variant with Gossamer (my favorite Looney Toons character) was damaged at my lcs, but I picked up the Ms Marvel 1:25 Sara Pichelli. I also ordered two copies of Monstress 1 cover B signed from Midtown, one for me, one for my daughter for Xmas. Thanks for the heads up agentpoyo and Tony. Even though my lcs had a huge stack of Monstress last week, they were sold out.

  11. My Pick ups:
    Harley #22 (of course)
    Batman Europa
Vader Down #1 (I love the Jaxxon Variant)
Star Wars #12 (I might pick up the Greedo variant also)
    Mighty Thor #1
Any Ms. Marvel I can find
    Spider-Woman #1

  12. FYI, keep an eye out for Uncanny Avengers Annual, new character introduced, already selling out online (Midtown is sold out), totally flew under the radar. I peeked already, not sure how I feel or how big the character will end up but time, fans and demand will tell.
