Gwenpool is now ongoing series

The house of ideas is at it again. The popular character Gwenpool will now be getting her own series.

From CBR

Gwenpool is here to stay. After becoming a meme-worthy cosplay sensation at this past Comic Con International in San Diego, the dimension-hopping merc known as Gwenpool made a big splash in a number of comics — notably “Howard the Duck” and the “Gwenpool Holiday Special.” Now the character will receive her own ongoing series, as announced over at Entertainment Weekly.
The ongoing will be handled by writer Christopher Hastings and art team Gurihiru, which is comprised of Chifuyu Sasaki and Naoko Kawano. Hastings and Gurihiru have so far handled Gwenpool’s — aka Gwen Poole, not an alternate-universe Gwen Stacy — previous appearances in the Marvel Universe, and their connection with the character is going to continue.

She first appears on the variant cover of Deadpool’s Secret Secret Wars #2. Issues have been flying off the virtual shelf, just take a look at the recent sold listings. She then went on to appear in All New Howard the Duck #1, her first full, non-cover appearance, and she got her first solo appearance in Gwenpool Special #1.

While a lot of people see her as another Gwen / Spider-Gwen knock off, she is actually (and I say this through clenched jaws) a wholly new character named Gwen Poole. (Not much of a secret identity.)

Thanks to emiobeg for the heads up.

  1. Waiting for the inevitable origin of her healing factor power in the 616 universe. That issue will happen. That issue will be hot fire. I’m not saying….I’m just saying.

Do I care that much about this character? Not really. Is it enjoyable to read? Sure.

Will I go broke chasing issues? Nope.

  2. Well this has flipping potentials written all over it. So get them and flip them fast before they drop in prices lol
