Comics Picks of the Week for Delivery 12/23/15

Each week hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are picks of the week for delivery 12/23/15:

The Returning Favorites

Blood Feud #3– Anyone else reading this? Fantastic back woods vampire story with a fresh twist. It is Cullen Bunn and he is no stranger to media options. Not to mention there are some great horror homage back covers on this book.

Chew #53– one of the must pick ups. Up there with Walking Dead as a pick up when ever it comes out.

Outcast #14– Still a great book, slow moving yes, but still Kirkman and a TV show is still coming.

Saga #32– The other of the Image big three must pick ups. Can’t pass up BKV.

The odd Marvel one on the list

Patsy Walker AKA Hellcat #1– I hate to say it but the costume is cosplay worthy. Marvel does femal characters well that seem to pick up steam and Marvel #1 ongoing a do well on the secondary markets.

The One With the Retro Feel

GI Joe #222 Action Figure Variant– I am loving the retro action figures covers. Not to mention, the story following the death of Snake Eyes has been good. This one is Stalker.

Small Press Gem

Self Storage #3– My favorite book from the 451 line. Remember this is Michael Bay’s comic company and this one could easily transition into a movie or show.

Venus #1– Boom has a first look deal in place where books can be optioned early. I tend to look at all new Boom books now.

The Gotta Catch Them All one’s

Superman #47 Harley’s little Black Book variant– Jim Lee on Harley. Not sure this has happened before. Need to get one of each, Color, Inked, and Sketched

Justice League of America #6 Harley’s Little Black Book Variant– Joe Madureira is back with a Harley Cover. Used to love his work before he disappeared into the Video Game world.

The Pick of the Week

Wakfu– selling out online. Going for above cover price on eBay. Tv show and game already in place. This could easily be the winner of the week and a sleeper hit at the same time.

Also Coming Out This Week

Ricky and Morty #9- has become a must pick up. Have been grabbing and flipping early issues when ever I can find them. Keeping a set for myself.

The I need this to complete my childhood

Aquaman and Great White Shark Mego style Action Figure set– One of the rarest Mego figures ever. Goes for close to $9000 for the original. I had a chance to get one of these back in the 70’s and my mom ended up refusing. I have thought about this for decades. It is being rereleasd now for much less than the original. Really need to get this.

      1. I didn’t think I’d like it but yeah, it’s pure entertainment. It’s like, Big Trouble in Little China type fun.

  1. Saga and Outcast for sure. I’m glad I picked up 17 copies of Outcast #1 back in the day. I figure I’ll trade or sell go good stuff once the show comes out. Kirkman is on fire. I think the show will soar!

    1. It might do well but remember it is on premium channels so it’s audience will be limited as smaller than those with regular cable and dish that includes AMC, etc.

      1. If it was HBO or Shotime it would have a much better chance. Cinemax goes out to a smaller audience. I’m still debating whether or not to add it strictly for this show. I’m hoping they put out one of their cheap introductory offers like they have in the past.
