Comics Picks of the Week for Delivery 12/30/15

Each week hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are picks of the week for delivery 12/30/15:

Is it just me or did this year seem to go by quickly. I know not all of my favorite comics kicked out 12 issues this year so that is not a good counter, but I digress. This is going to be the first real light week for me all year I believe.

Returning Favorites:

Black Magick #3– Loving Greg Rucka’s new series. Witches and Detectives. Really has been a fascinating story.
Rat Queens #14– I know the spec has cooled off since it was mentioned the show option didn’t go through, but this still is an awesome series that doesn’t disappoint.
Ringside #2– First issue surprised me by going in a completely different direction than I expected. More Stray Bullets than WWE, but a great read.

The Marvel Worth a Pick up
Deadpool Cable Split Second #1– Deadpool books have been worth the pick up for flips. The previous Deadpool and Cable series did well on the secondary market. This was an online only series originally and now is getting released in monthly format

The fool and his money picks
I only say that because I have been foolish and buying multiple copis to put together sets of the covers. I have been doing ok with selling off the extras to get my money back though.

Flash #47 Harley’s Little Black Book Variants– Terry Dodson supplies the covers for this one. Sure to be a fan favorite.
Justice League #47 Harley’s Little Black Book Variant– Mistakenly mentioned Jim Lee did last weeks cover, he is doing this one and it is hot, check it out below.

Small Press Gem
Code Pru #1– It’s Avatar so the use of continuous re-printed variant covers could kill all spec chance, but it is Garth Ennis so it is worth the pick up.

The Pick of the Week
Dreaming Eagles #1– Again, a Garth Ennis book. Aftershock comics hasn’t hit any home runs with the spec community yet, but having a super star writer like Ennis doing a book could help. Seems the better titles are starting to launch from Aftershock now. Hoknes USA has a really decent looking variant for the book.

    1. Yeah, the only thing I dislike is.. so many covers.. and then more released (of #1) weeks or months later, even when the series is over (if it’s a mini series).

  1. I am happy to say, I have not bought one black bagged DC Harley Little Black Book variants.. not one. Ever since the DC 3-D villains covers, I felt I got burned (does anyone have some aloe vera, it still burns a bit when I come across them in my long boxes), so no more DC hyped up variants for me…
