  1. My pickups this week:
Detective Comics #48 – It’s Batman, even though I’m not particularly digging it currently.
Swamp Thing #1 – I loved Swamp Thing back in the day, haven’t read a bunch of the newer stuff yet (wanted to read BKV and Snyder’s work on it) but I’ll pick up this one for sure.
Unfollow #3 – Very good so far.
Sheriff of Babylon #2 – First one was interesting, want to see where #2 takes us.
Black Science #19 – Yes please, one of Remenders best works I think.
Fade Out #12 – Brubaker, can’t go wrong with Brubaker.
Nailbiter #19 – What Tony said in his Picks of the week.
    Paper Girls #4 – Duh!
ASM #6 – Still long time Spider-Man fan but this new volume has not really got me digging on the new Spider-Man.
    Darth Vader #15 – Duh!
Dr. Strange #4 – I finally read 1-3 and love it so far. Aaron is that good and the art is fantastic as well.
Iron Man #5 – Either you love Bendis or hate him.. currently I’m digging Iron Man.
Obi-Wan and Anakin #1 – It’s Star Wars.. of course I’m picking it up.
Rocket Racoon and Groot #1 – Probably my favorite of the Guardians..
    Star Wars #14 – Duh!
    Vision #3 – Haven’t read them yet, I hope I’m not dissappointed.
XO Manowar #43 – Long time X-O fan..
StraitJacket #3 – So far, so good.
Invader Zim #6 – Kids like it, even though we haven’t read some of the later ones in a while.

  2. Paper Girls (so good!)
A-Force (Hughes, Campbell, and Ibanez) new character making a first appearance, and I really liked the limited series.
HTD Gwenpool Liefeld variant (for the pc).
A few others, but these are the notable entries.

    1. I ended up also grabbing a Del Mundo Spider-Man/Deadpool variant to maybe display in the comic corner, and my shop tossed in some Deadpool true believers.

  3. Picks this week
Paper girls #4 ( haven’t read #3 yet but it’s on the “TO DO LIST”)
Spiderman deadpool #1 ( gotta see what this is all about)
    Spidey #2 ( haven’t read #1 yet so hope it’s good)
Kodoja #2 ( first issue was good so I gotta read this one)
Straight jacket #3 ( I am loving this series. Amigo comics has been doing some great horror books)
I also picked up a New Mutants #98 CGC 9.6 for a price that I couldn’t say “NO” to.
A question maybe someone has head something about it, but does anyone know what happened to Transference from black mask? Did the book get canceled?

      1. I thought I read Young Terrorists was going to be delayed since the initial book was pretty much the first 3 issues in one issue.

  4. Yeah cuz I’ve been waiting patently for the release date for #3 but nothing. Once u find out let me know. Thank u

  5. Black Science 19. Just like Poyo, one of my favorite remender books. Gripping, intense and flat out awesome read since issue one.
Swamp Thing 1. Because Swamp Thing is the Swamp Thing.
As usual tons of back issues and dives in the dollar bin

      1. I love the old Tales from the Crypt books. I’ve been collecting the hardbound reissues from the beginning. I’m a little behind at the moment since Dark Horse started putting them out. I need to go buy one lol.

          1. I’ve been wanting to start with the some of the other horror and crime archives. I’ve fallen behind on the EC archives and they’re my number one priority. They’re expensive but I can get the EC books for around $35 on Amazon versus the suggested $50 cover. As soon as I get caught up on those I’ll start collecting some of the others, Crime Does Not Pay for starters. Speaking of Crime, I hope Dark Horse put out Crime Suspensestories 2. Vol 1 was my favorite read of the EC books and I’ve been waiting forever for Vol 2.

      2. Same here. Any of the pre code horror stuff is my big thing. The stories are cool and the majority of the covers are awesome

  6. I’m not one for the new stuff I dabble here and there in current books, but love me some silver, bronze, copper age 1st appearances my back issue pick ups this week…
Runaways #1 2003 runaways and more importantly Sister Grimm’s 1st appearance if you play marvel future fight on your phone you love Sister Grimm, and movie rumors.
Guardians of nowhere #1 gwenom variant Look at Spider-Man 678 Mary Jane venom cover. This is a must have.
New mutants annual 1 Cheap $1 bin book multiple 1st appearances,
1st appearance of Strong Guy (Guido Carosella)
1st appearance of Cypher (Doug Ramsey)
    1st appearance of Lila Cheney
Bloodstone #1 2001 and Marvel presents 1 Bloodstone 1975 like the Elsa reboot her 1st appearance from 2001 is gaining steam. 1975 Ulysses Bloodstone 1st appearance (her dad) old book in the dollar bin why not.
Last planet standing #5 1st appearance of silver Galactus. Galactus and silver surfer merge. Cheap book worth a pick up.
Flaming carrot #25 off of blind Adams recommendation 1st appearance tmnt in color. Cost $1 good potential here.

    1. I love the Bloodstone relaunch and picked it up when it came out (a modern at that time. lol) There is another TMNT color appearance that many people do not know about. I think it is issue 8 of the original run. The second printing was done in color! Not many people know about this. I need to check the covers to be 100% sure on the issue number but have held a copy in my hands this summer.

      1. Hi all, Love this forum! First color TMNT – Grimjack #26 Sept 1986. Eight page back-up story “D’ants Fever”. I had some great correspondence with Linda “Lessmann” Reinhold, the colorist of this book. I’m sharing a quote from her here: “By the way, I spoke to Alex Wald who was my color editor at First Comics and he said that as far as he knew, this was the first time the Turtles were published in color.” My question is what date did TMNT #8 – Second Print – hit the shelves? Fun additional info which I can’t confirm (from eBay listing); “”Kevin Eastman & Peter Laird did a number of short stories once the Ninja Turtles became successful, mainly to use as extra content in reprints and for other publications. This story in particular was made to address a rising voice in TMNT fandom: to see the turtles in color! So in cooperation with First Publishing, Eastman & Laird drew out this 8 page story to become the first story ever where the Turtles would be seen in color (which was colored inhouse at First Publishing.) A fun fact is that the entire 8 page bar scene chronologically takes place during TMNT issue #5, pages 13 & 14. It was originally published in Grimjack #26 and predates TMNT #7 where Kevin painted a short Corben-drawn story for an insert. Kevin Eastman, in his book “Artobiography”, said that this story is “By far one of the best drawn Eastman & Laird short stories.” Cool. An amazing piece of TMNT history. There’s drinking, fighting, and overall Turtle debauchery.”” Good luck on this matter. Lets see what we can find.

        1. I have to dig out Grimjack 26 as that is one of my all time favorite series. John Gaunt has long been a favorite character before and after his appearance change. Grimjack came out in Sept 1986. The issue of the turtles I was talking about was in fact issue 32 and it came out much later. Still a hard book to come by.

    2. I recently picked up a CGC 9.6 Flaming Carrot 1 at a heck of a deal. #25 was my introduction to the Carrot a long time ago. I picked up a Runaways 1 in the back issue bins maybe 6 months ago when my lcs got a whole run of early issues.

  7. My pickups:
    Action comics
    Deadpool
    Detective comics
    Midnighter
    Nailbiter
    Spiderman/deadpool
    Star wars
    Darth vader
    Spiderman
True believers deadpool and deadpool origins.
That’s it for this week. Maybe a few variants if they are reasonably priced. Trying to cut back so I can get engaged.

      1. No he’s not.. how’s that song go again.. “if you want to be happy for the rest of your life.. you got to say no… to ge-t-t-ing mar-ried… ”
        😉

      2. Hahaha she’s not that bad!
Besides, if I behave, I can do things with her I can’t do with the books 😉

  8. Going to pick up:
    Giant Days
Swamp Thing 1 (to go with my recent acquisition of a CGC 6.5 House of Secrets 92 white pages)
    Miracleman (Neil Gaiman)
    Invader Zim
    Maybe:
    SM/Deadpool
    Deadpool NM reprint

  9. Everything out that I want I have already pre-ordered or is in my pull box at my main store, but I will go later to get another copy of Unfollow #3 and maybe some other stuff that came out last week.

  10. Dark Corridor #6: This series has really grown on me.
The Fade out #12 My favorite series of the year comes to a close
Last Contract #1: Ed Brisson. Looks like a great mini
Nail Biter #19: I had been collecting this in trade. Jumping on the monthly’s
Paper Girls#4: This story is still a mystery and I’m enjoying the ride.
Unfollow #3: Solid series so far. Lots of ways it could still go.
I’m sad to see the Fade Out ending. I’m hoping they announce their new project soon.

  11. I have to Local Comic Shops. One I have a pull with, and the other I do not. One sells regular covers at cover and incentive variants above cover ($7.99-19.99 usually). The other sells them at cover regardless of cover ratio. Today I went to the LCS that sells at cover. It was a mix of not wanting to go to the busy block that my pull list LCS is on and a desire to hunt for cover price variants. Well:
    1. The Vision #3 Ward Variant! Love Ward’s art. Hate that I have to read ODY-C to get it. Beautiful cover:

    2. Spider-Man/Deadpool #1 Deadpool Variant:
    /revision/latest?cb=20151213005130
    3. Patsy Walker A.K.A. Hellcat #1 George Perez cover! This was just lying there in a stack of #1s!

    4. True Believer Deadpool #1: I’ve actually never read NM98. I’d read it for a buck!
    5. Obi-Wan and Anakin #1: JTC jumped the shark on this cover. No more action figure covers for me. Fad done in my world. Got the regular cover. No Oum cover at the cover price LCS. Still hunting, I guess!

  12. I went by Gamestop asked the cashier if they had the Spidey/Deadpool he just looked at me confused and said they have not had any comics to sell in a while. Now when I get home I check my email, I have 2 the 1st is about one of my pre-orders which I have shipped monthly, when they were packing my order they noticed some of the items were as they put it “beyond damaged” and that they had no more to send me so I got refunded and what were the damaged comics Monstress #1 2nd prints no big deal (yeah right). The 2nd email was better the owner of my main comic shop got back to with the price of the b/w Walking Dead #150 and I was floored by it……….$25 (WHAT!!!!!!). No question I’ll take it, that seems like a steal to me.

    1. I’ll give you $30 for it? A cool $5 profit.. can buy a snickers and a soda with amazing profit, maybe have a few quarters left over even..

      1. Yeah right, I think I’ll hold on to it for a while, It might even be the first comic I get graded. Believe it or not I have never sent a comic out to be graded.

        1. Yeah, I actually suggest holding onto it. I’ve put in my name for my local shops copy, no word back on possible price he’s going to sell it at but I was told I was the first, so first dibs depending on price.
I actually got one of the Midnight B&W 1 copy per store variant for #115 All Out War for around $100, Midtown still trying to sell theirs for over $400. I’m debating sending mine off to get graded, since I plan to keep in my PC.

  13. So I called couple of stores to find out prices on the walking dead 150 black and white variant and they are asking between $100-$150. So to all of you who found it cheaper, kudos to you.

  14. Picked up
Black Science – I agree that this is likely Remender’s best book, but I do like Tokyo Ghost a lot as well
Fade Out – Sorry to see this end. Looking forward to what they do next…
Miracleman – wanted the variant by Kaare but none of the stores here had a copy
Nailbiter – one of the few I still look forward to every month
XO – on the fence whether to continue to pick up
Toil & Trouble – highlight of the day. Really enjoy this book
Swamp Thing – wish DC would get there act together with this book
Joe Golem – 2nd favorite pick up today
18 Days – Still enjoying this
Bitch Planet – likely my last issue of this.
with the news that Mignola is ending Hellboy In Hell with issue 10, I found myself wondering if I want to continue picking up new books each week. DOn’t care for a lot of Marvel or DC. I did get a bunch of EC/Creepy/Eerie reprint HC for Xmas, and I may devote the weekly money to picking up these reprints or complete my search for Perez WW and Byrne FF. Still having an internal debate about what I really want to do. BTW: I do like that Ward variant for Vision. I may have to go back tomorrow and see if I can get a copy.

    1. Yeah and at that price, they’ll still have it in a year. They’re still trying to sell their #115 B&W Midnight variant at that price and it’s got a print run way lower than this one supposedly since it was only the shops that signed up for the Midnight Party which my counts come to around the 500 mark according to Image’s list of locations that did the party.

    1. The color version of #115 Walking Dead .The midnight release party color variant. What is the estimated print run?

      1. The colored Midnight version of #115 of Walking Dead.. that’s a good question. Not sure if they even release those numbers and probably lump them into the other covers numbers.

          1. Yeah, I recall the Cover M Midnight cover was separate from the others but they likely still threw them all together. Getting the exact print run of those would be near impossible unless you found got every store that was eligible and their order totals.

    2. I’m not going to fall into the hype of everything that’s happened to Peter in our universe is considered a first appearance because it’s now happening in her world. I’m not counting these as first appearances in my book. I don’t care about Spider-Gwen, or Gwenpool.. or Gwoot.. Iron Gwen.. the only Gwen I like is DeadGwen. 😉

      1. It wasn’t total disappointment. But without spoilers, I was hoping for a bit more adult feel. I thought it was leaning towards the teen feel instead of the other way around. I’m still going to try issue two, I may have excited myself too much for it I suppose.

      2. Yeah, sorta like that. I’m going to keep going with it, but I am expecting more. There’s old Vampirella books I can buy with the money that can go to a few modern issues. Which one would I be happier with….hmmmm…..
