This one comes from our friend Sebastion C.
Key issues of Apocalypse related books have been scooped up. Here is one that may have been missed.
At the end of “X-Men: Days of Futures Past”, in the secret after credits scene, we see Apocalypse for the first time, he still looks to be in his human form while people are chanting what I believe to be “En Sabah Nur, En Sabah Nur”…
We also know he may initially look like “Ivan Ooze” ( 😛 ) in “X-Men: Apocalypse.”
But how does he get to the more familiar look we all know and love?
My assumption is that in order to get from Days of Futures Past look to the Apocalypse “look” the movie will have to go into the origin story of En Sabah Nur (or Apocalypse in his human form before he got upgraded with the alien technology.) Well it turns out that X-Force #37 shows part of that origin story and it also show the alien “chariot” which En Sabah Nur enters. This could be another Silver Surfer 44 case (1st Infinity Gauntlet appearance). As its the 1st appearance of the alien artifact that turns En Sabah Nur into Apocalypse as we know him now, X-Force #37 may be worth the cheap grab. After all, cheap copies of X-Force have popped up in value in relation to the Deadpool movie, there is a chance that this could pop up in relation to the Apocalypse movie. Here’s the 1st 5 pages of X-Force #37… enjoy 🙂

Nice…. I love orgins. I always like to read on how the character got to be where he or she is today. Thanks for the info.
Anyone notice on marvels website they now list Marvel Graphic Novel #17 as apocs 1st appearance http://marvel.com/universe/Apocalypse_(En_Sabah_Nur)
We had this a long time ago. I wish I could find the post now. Apocalypse appeared but unnamed in the graphic novel
Well I guess marvel will update every character cuz they have the 1st appearances of a lot if them on the wrong book or date.
They list as 1st appearance, but it is because of a ret con they did, he is an unknown benefactor. Not sure if it can be considered first appearance very loose and at best a cameo, X-Factor #5 & #6 will still be the books.
Although the character first appeared in 1986, he was retroactively said to have been present during previously published stories. The unnamed benefactor of the Living Monolith in Marvel Graphic Novel #17 was later identified as Apocalypse in disguise. Classic X-Men #25 revealed that years earlier Apocalypse encountered the terrorist Moses Magnum and granted him superhuman power.
X-Force 37 has been mentioned on numerous web pages. I still like the MGN 17 spec though. That puppy is really hard to find.
It’s definitely hard to find, but I don’t consider it the 1st appearance of Apocalypse. Nothing in that issue indicates Apocalypse’s involvement. Considering that issue to be his 1st appearance would be the same as pointing to an issue where Mystique or Mr. Sinister were operating “behind-the-scenes” before they debuted, and making that their 1st appearance.
What does Marvel say on this?
Was wondering what books to get Fabian Nicieza to sign in March. Here we go! Grabbing some X-Force today!
I already grabbed a bunch of these as soon as DOFP came out. No matter what, it is the 1st time Apocalypse is ever called “En Sabah Nur”. As far as the Origin details go, though, the “Rise Of Apocalypse” mini-series contradicted what was shown in this issue, and most consider ROA to be the “true” origin of Apocalypse. X-force#37 still served as the basis for ROA, so that’s still a Plus for it, too.
