I’m gonna run on Wednesday, I’m gonna run dammit. There’s a good chance one store will have the Walking Dead B&W variant sitting out with the rest at cover, so yeah, I’m gonna have to forgo my flip flops (yeah yeah, I live in Central Texas, it’s flip flop season year round).. and put on my running shoes.
So besides The Walking Dead big issue # 150.. let’s get on with the picks.
DC/Vertigo Pick of the Week – There’s not a whole lot happening in the DC world for me but this one sort of stood out and could very well be a low print and hard to find.
Starfire #8 Coloring Book Variant (DC) – Yes, the coloring book variant. It’s all the rage with adults now. Honestly, my wife started coloring and it does seem to help any anxiety issues one may have.
Marvel Picks of the Week:
Secret Wars #9 (Marvel) – Conclusion of the biggest event in Marvel’s history. That’s what they say, my prediction is Mr. Fantastic, Reed Richards dies.. so they can bring him back in the near future.
All New Wolverine #4 Deadpool Variant(Marvel) – The classic homage cover of Batman slapping Robin.. very funny, love that image. Have made several meme’s myself using it.
The Indie Pick:
Walking Dead #150 (Image) – All covers. It’s going to be like issue #100 with only a fraction of the covers. Something big is going to happen, Rick is betrayed, so who do you think it is and is Rick the one who takes them out? We can only hope so. I want that old man with a bum knee and missing right hand to go back into bad ass crazy Rick mode…
The It’s a really Sweet Cover Pick:
Sonic Universe #82 Cover B T REX Variant (Archie) – Just a sweet looking cover if you ask me. I’ve bought Sonic’s in the past for the kiddos but I might be picking this one up for me. I love the old classic covers.
An honorable mention goes to 215 Ink.. for actually getting both Enormous covers out on the same Wednesday, well, so far they’re planned that way.
That’s all I got. Here’s to hoping I land a Walking Dead One Per Store Black and White Variant at cover. If you don’t hear from me by mid day Wednesday, something horribly wrong happened during my sprint across the comic book store.

One of my regular stores is putting the WD 150 out at $250. No thanks.
Ugh, one local shop is raffling it off, as by my luck in Atlantic City this past weekend, I have no hope of winning. Another is doing a silent auction, not going to bother.
These are starting now to get listed at $150 or less now that all these shops have them in hand. The market is getting flooded now, wait and the price will drop. Now if Rick actually dies (read Anthony’s new spoiler post), then you’ll want to spend $250 for this issue. 😉
I’m not a WD fan so no love lost for me. If I stumble upon it at a good price, I’ll get it. I am going hard to get Silk #3 though. I have one lined up but they couldn’t get me a price until it was transferred to the store.
If you find a WD BW #150, pick it up and I’ll give you a good price for it. 🙂
Good luck tomorrow. Make sure you do some stretches so you don’t pull anything. As I type this my copy should already be in my pull box, so I can just stroll into my shop anytime I want and grab it. Is there any flip potential with the coloring book variants?
My wife is obsessed with the adult coloring books too!
Wow, I cannot believe my good fortune, but, I was able to swoop up 1 of the B&W’s. So, agentpoyo, Sir, I’m just a small time collector, just collecting for me and my Son. This is the most I’ve ever spent on 1 comic book. Do you think I should CGC it? or CBCS? Any guidance would be appreciated. Trying to do right by our little Holy Grail, heh.
I am a fan of CBCS but would say CGC it if you are looking to sell it eventually.
My advice is, if you plan to sell, CGC or CBCS it. If you plan to hold on as collector, keep it raw…. just put it in some mylar with archive grade backer board with maybe a top comic loader for extra protection.
These coloring-book-style variants for DC covers are interesting. There is a professional colorist who will color-in any sketch or black-and-white variant for folks at conventions (Jeff Balke, a nice guy), and I would imagine other colorists who do something similar would excel at personalizing these for folk.
